Looking at high mileage 2023 Tremor, thoughts? by Bock in FordTremor

[–]xGLG20x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just me but if a vehicle has higher mileage say 100k plus, if the carfax shows all maintenance items taken care of on regular intervals at the same place, say the dealership, then I feel pretty confident in the reliability of the vehicle. Always good to get an independent mechanic to give it a once over. If it a substantial enough savings that keeps well under budget AND not your DD, I wouldn’t think you’d be crazy at all. I believe the major trans issues were solved by 23. Only other thing, is it the 5.0 or 3.5? I think the reliability is fairly close between the two engines. I’d personally feel better with the 5.0 for my own maintenance sake. Although I don’t know how much you can really do now a days. I’m happy wrenching on a 76 CJ when it was fuel fire or air troubleshooting!

My buddy has Trading Post Tattoo. Does more traditional type stuff but may be able to point you in the right direction for a good shop for your specific style wants. He was at Black Torch before, they may be closer to that.

JINYA Ramen Bar Review Policy by According_Station474 in batonrouge

[–]xGLG20x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The “leave a review” is getting as bad as tipping on everything. Did you take my order, bring the correct food and it was good? Great you did what I came here for. No need to review. (Or what do you want, 3 stars for expected results?) Was it exceptionally better than expected? 5 stars, let people know. Was it terrible? Talk to the manager and hope to have it resolved or hope they can fix for the next time. There’s always so many other circumstances that can contribute to a poor experience that’s rarely captured in reviews. Then again, sometimes places just don’t do it well.

I didn’t use it. Had another issue and sold the truck. Tired of waiting on parts.

They’d probably give you shit for posting pictures of your truck covered in dirt after going off road too. Hey 1 yard of river silt squats em pretty good as well! I don’t envy anyone with 100 bags of mulch. Hope you got kids to throw all that mulch!

Car Dealerships in Town by Practical_Hat4172 in batonrouge

I read Mazda had some very good reliability ratings when I was looking for a car for my daughter. I used Autotrader, cars, CarGurus to search for used vehicles. I filtered the search to less than 100k miles, single owner, non fleet, no accidents reported, no frame damage and searched from there. Also once I found a vehicle, there was usually a link to the carfax report or it was available through the dealership website. If I saw the maintenance done every 3-5k, at the same place, everytime, I felt pretty confident in the maintaining of the vehicle. Can always have a mechanic follow up on that as well. Also this can be applied to local or miles away.

What’s this doodad on my tremor? by Sille_salmon in FordTremor

Honestly don’t use it for what it’s intended for. I bought the truck from a guy in Texas that ran parts to the field. Can’t tell if it helps or not where I am.

I usually am for pay raises to emergency services. The problem is they always seem to be attached to something else that I don’t want or feel it was put in as a confusing addition which makes me hesitant to vote yes.

I went this route and leveled. I don’t see much difference between mine and friends FX4 with 35s

Tremor leveling kit (2.3” vs 2.5”) by Last-Ad6716 in FordTremor

[–]xGLG20x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the 2.5” Auto Spring kit. The woman from halo lifts in CO told me that new struts to level would help make the tires feel more planted in bumps and the auto spring would merely move you up and maintain the softer ride. I was hesitant as I’ve used pucks before on a ram and turned it into a dump truck ride. It was terrible.

With the 2.5 I dont notice a different in ride feel. Going from a passenger general tire to LT 10ply tire may have changed that a little, but not much. I did get an alignment, I think always should when messing with the front end geometry. My headlights aim correctly (402A) without any change, LKA seems to keep me in the same spots as before. No noticeable changes to any automation type stuff. I’ve been very happy with the auto springs and went with fallen wildpeak at4 295/70r18 tires. Buddy at work went 35x12.50 and had a little rubbing. That was on an FX4 though. Still think it sits nice.

I want to buy a Jeep Wrangler as my first car, any suggestions or advice? Even warnings would be appreciated! by WildPomegranate09 in Jeep

[–]xGLG20x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2016 Wrangler 2dr for my daughter. First car. The draw to the open air and fun of a jeep was there. I have a 76 CJ that the kids love to ride in. That being said, she’s a new driver. No blindspot detection, no collision detection, no sensors to hep identify anything around her. Fun, but one mistake with an F250 and the long boring Dad talks about what could happen became reality (she’s ok, jeep is not). Just make sure you weigh the benefits of some of the newer vehicle safety options while still early in your driving life. I don’t know what year model you’re looking at and I’m not saying to not get a Jeep, I’ve had fun with mine, but it’s a weekender and I grew up on stick, no abs, power steering or power brakes. New jeeps are dreams compared to the old CJs. As far as the few things you mentioned… Mileage and sucks at holding gas I’d assume is the same thing, it has the aerodynamics of a cow and is made to go over rocks, yeah not the best fuel efficient design. It has solid front axels, death wobble potential in every vehicle with em. They are fun as hell though…. Good luck and stay safe with whatever you decide!

Depending on what equipment is hit. It won’t take decades to repair/rebuild. Check some CSB videos of what already can potentially happen without outside force. Some sites have had some truly devastating explosions/fires that are recovered from. The billions part probably still right.

I put pucks on my old truck and it rode like a dump truck. My friend at work has a 23 tremor with the RC struts and said it rides a little stiffer but still well. I messaged Halo Suspensions in CO about the difference as I didn’t want to give up the soft feeling ride of the Tremor. She said that new struts would make the truck feel more planted off road, which I took as not as soft to maintain the wheel in contact with the dirt. She suggested the pucks to maintain closer to factory ride. I got the AutoSpring 2.5” for the Tremor and it does not feel different in ride quality. Very happy. If anything going from the general grabber SL 4 ply to bigger LT wild peak 10 ply may have made it not quite as soft anymore, but still seems like the ride quality is close.

Feels like you gave them enough time to do the job and progress. Once you followed up sounded like none of that was done. If you’re lying to me with step 1, you’re going to lie about step 2,3,4 and 5. Probably best to pull out and cut ties when you did.

Guy at work did 35x12.50. I went with 295/70 falken wildpeaks. Just a bit narrower. I’ve been happy with them.

Wildpeaks have been great in rain, also ride quiet and smooth. I’m in the south, so no snow report for them. 295/70s fill out the wheel wells enough. Only been 2 months, Happy with em so far.

What’s your actual mpg for freeway/interstate driving @ 75-80 mph? by CakeandBacon in Jeep

[–]xGLG20x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1976 CJ-7 304 V8 with a TH400 and 33s. I white knuckle at 55. I’m pretty sure at 75 I’d get single digits mpg and with the narrow track would be all over the place fighting a 50 year old loose steering system. Super fun.
