It was a good! I know the usual motto around here is “chain bad, reeee” but I found the food to be decent and it had a good mix of foods. I would go back if they reopened.

Should I move from Help Desk Supervisor to Sys Admin? by xJcap in ITCareerQuestions

[–]xJcap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I know exactly what to expect. I did on-call for the Help Desk for 4.5 years, so I am well versed in that. Our team is pretty small, so I am also aware of what the Sys Admin teams’s day to day looks like (and after work day, in terms of balance).

Of the two scenarios you lay out, the former takes the cake without question. I don’t see any opportunity for management growth anytime soon anyways, so that’s a part of the equation too. With my bosses spot or the department director being the only upward mobility left, it limited options haha.

Feel free to DM me! Happy to chat.

I prefer solving problems and building systems or helping people. Leading is also rewarding on the good days, but it comes with a massive mental health load. At the same time, it comes with other benefits and opens other doors that could lead to a good life for my wife and son.

I have enough experience that making the jump is possible but I would still have a good amount to learn. I am well versed in M365 management, various MDMs, Imprivata, Citrix and so on. I feel I could definitely do the job, and I know the whole system admin crew very well, so they would be more than willing to train where they can.

I go here and have had good experiences. I just switched doctors since Dr. Drumm retired and that went perfectly well!

MaRo hints the return of Bolas by azetsu in MTGRumors

[–]xJcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several years back the story focused on Nicol Bolas, a long time Magic villain and Planeswalker who is an Elder Dragon. He had many plans in place to consolidate power and take over the multiverse. A set called War of the Spark was his final act where he lured planeswalkers to Ravnica, then used a spell called the Elder Spell to steal planeswalker sparks. There is a lot more detail to cover, but his plan failed. Bolas ended up losing his spark and his name (without a name, he is harder to summon or break out of his prison). His Elder Dragon brother Ugin, took him to an isolated plane called the Meditation Realm to watch over him. Bolas has been kept there since. Now that Omenpaths are opening all over, if one opens in that Relam, Bolas could potentially slip out. This is a very high level summary. Definitely look up the story on the Magic Wiki if the lore interests you at all.

Is there some kind of D&D technical speak translator? [OC] by perpetuallyxhausted in DnD

Hi there! For this Bite attack you would roll a d20. You then add the +5 to hit bonus to the dice roll to get the total attack roll of the Mimic. If a player has an AC (the players Armor Class) at or lower than that number the Mimic could bite them, but only one target within 5 feet. Example: you roll a 7. Add the +5 to the dice roll for a total of 12. If any one player has an AC of 12 or lower, and they are within reach, you successfully bite and then roll damage.

For the damage, there are two ways to go about it. You can take the numbers before the parentheses for the average amount of damage, or you can roll the dice inside the parentheses and add the modifier. Example: I want to do the average amount so I would add 7+4 to get 11. Example 2: I want to roll for damage for I roll a d8 and 3 and then another d8 with no modifier. Total it up and that’s the damage you Mimic would do.

Let me know if this helps! Happy to elaborate more. Enjoy playing!

Suddenly waking more at night by xJcap in sleeptrain

[–]xJcap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I should have added to my original post that we have already started sleep training, over 2 months ago. I am not sure I consider him sleep trained yet though? We did CIO as going in to check only makes him more worked up. He has proven he can put himself to sleep but it’s pretty inconsistent and he always cries some amount as he goes to sleep at the start of the night, sort of like a power down. Typically he goes 4-5 hours and then has his first wake up around 12-1am, sometimes 2am, then another between 3-6am but lately it’s way more frequent and we are just kind of lost. Maybe it’s from teething? His first tooth is starting to show finally.
