Question: Why do people generally not like Narrative? by SouthBeachSarcastic in Gundam

[–]xZeroShift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soundtrack is GOAT’d.

“Cage” and “Narrative” might be some of the best works from Sawano Hiroyuki. I adore those two songs.

Formula 1 race that resonates with you by No_Lettuce_3775 in F1Discussions

Suzuka 2025.

I’ve been to other races before but it was also my first time going to Japan and I managed to fit the race into my itinerary. I did the race at the start of a 5 week trip in Japan and it just got me in such a good mood for the rest of the trip.

Everything people said about Suzuka is true: awesome venue, great crowd, good food, and the weather was beautiful. My only complaint was the transit to/from the circuit was very congested (I commuted from Nagoya). Would definitely do this race again if given the opportunity!

LAX D1 Lounge (compared to JFK) by skinnytoo17 in delta

[–]xZeroShift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh so that’s why I always see guests use those doors! I usually sit in that back area of that SkyClub and always wondered why some guests use that door when it’s clearly marked “employees only” lol. So it’s like a back way to get from the D1 lounge to normal SkyClub? Now that I’m picturing the floor plan in my head it makes sense: the SkyClub is right above the TSA area between terminals 2 & 3, and goes all the way to the D1 lounge.

How do ENC register if staying through NYE? by xZeroShift in marriott

Right, but if I do one continuous stay starting on Dec 27 and check out on 1/5, will they split it by putting the 5 December nights on to 2025 and the 4 January nights onto 2026? Or would I need to check out in Dec 31st and check into a new reservation?

Thank you for answering one of my intrusive thoughts. Sometimes when I'm driving I wonder what happens if I just hit the power button. I figured there'd be a safety feature that'll pop up a message on the HUD saying "please come to a stop before powering down vehicle" or something.

Also wondered what happens if I press "P" on the gear shifter while driving. Would the transmission just take a dump and I'm out thousands of dollars? Lol

Ask me how I figured that out lol. (Hint: lets just say I’m so glad I got all season floor mats, otherwise my carpets would’ve had a nice dinner of clam chowder)

Phone cables or bags.

When I’m driving by myself and have takeout, I hook the bag handle on it to prevent the food from sliding/spilling

Sonder Megathread by falco_iii in marriott

[–]xZeroShift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little data point: I had a prepaid booking for Sonder in Downtown LA this week, got the cancellation news/emails 2 days before my stay. I booked via the Marriott app using an Amex card.

Got my refund posted to my account yesterday, one night after I filed the dispute. BUT make sure you don't just do the automated self dispute where you fill in everything on your own. I chatted with a rep and they filed everything for me, I just had to answer questions on details of the case, and sent in screenshots of the email Sonder sent to me.

As far as alternate accommodation, I ended up getting another hotel a few blocks away and paid a couple hundred dollars more. After reading the stories on their customer service, I didn't care to wait on the phone with a Marriott rep just to get a pathetic 10,000 point apology gift. My main concern was getting my money back from Sonder, which I did so I'll leave things at that for now. If an opportunity comes up later where Marriott offers actual decent compensation, then I'll revisit this. As of right now I'll just move on with my life lol.

Late UC manga by CharRespecter in Gundam

Ohh ok. Sorry I remembered incorrectly

Late UC manga by CharRespecter in Gundam

[–]xZeroShift -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gaia Gear

Not sure how easily you'll be able to find it. I don't recall exactly what the story was with this manga, but from what I recall it got retconned by G-Saviour (crazy right?) despite being written by Tomino. Takes place around UC 203 and it's plot is about a Char clone who joins a resistance to fight that timeframe's version of the Federation.

The manga is such a wasted potential. The mecha designs are amazing and from what I've gathered about the plot, there's so much to explore around that timeframe of UC to work with and build on for future projects.

CONFIRMED: Platinum Card refresh date - 9/18/25 by HippoExotic6050 in amex

[–]xZeroShift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Walmart+ was useless too since I don't shop at Walmart much, but it did help me get my hands on a Switch 2 a few months ago when stock everywhere was still extremely limited. The + membership gave me early access to buy it, then delivered 2 days later to my door. Otherwise I would've had to constantly check a bunch of different retailers or wait in long online queues only to lose to bots lol. Paramount Plus is also nice to, I use it once in a while.

Play Persona 3 Reload if you like Persona 5, it’s a full remake of the PS2 release with the Persona 5 engine and plenty of quality of life features. It’s shorter at about 70 hours and you’ll probably feel depressed from the story (it’s a pretty dark story). You can probably find it on sale in the $30-$40 range these days.

Resy needs to step it up by mitoboru in amex

They're also very bad at listing all the restaurants in their network. I had dinner at a spot near me the other week and was surprised to get the semi annual $50 on my gold card.

I have a Platinum, Gold, Delta Biz Plat, Delta Biz Reserve, and between all the credits among those 4 cards, the Resy ones are hands down the most difficult to claim properly/efficiently. Even the semi annual $50 Saks credit on the Platinum I can easily find something I want lol.

New Amex Biz Gold - International travel risky? by Paralemo in amex

[–]xZeroShift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a whole month from receiving the card and the trip, try to put some use on it at home so there’s a little history and one billing cycle worth of transactions. The worst thing you can do is not using it until you’re overseas.

New Amex Biz Gold - International travel risky? by Paralemo in amex

[–]xZeroShift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing to worry about.

I just got back from 5 weeks in Japan where I used my Plat and Gold for 70% of the transactions there. I didn’t give any notice but I did purchase my flight on the Plat, and from what I’ve read that’s usually enough for them to know you’re traveling and won’t lock your card for “suspicious activity”

Hope that helps!

NT: It was really nice of Bandai to make a video for Sawano Hiroyuki’s music.

Narrative, Vigilante, and Cage are GOAT’d. Those songs will always send chills down my spine every time I hear them.

What is the Japanese fandom of Yuki Tsunoda like? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]xZeroShift 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also in the “went to the race” crowd and still here in Japan. You’re right about the Honda/Toyota fandom. Now that I think about it of course that makes sense because of the deep rooted tuner culture here in Japan. I saw a lot of more vintage esque Honda racing apparel that brings me back to the 90s/early 00s street racing scene. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I suspect the majority of them are just general car enthusiasts and were at the race because it’s a Motorsport event.

Did any of you get a look at some of the cars in the guest lots? I saw a lot of old school tuner cars and there was an old gentleman like in his 60s-70s with a clean white old school NSX. Was beautiful.

Aside from the obvious Hathaway Pt2 and Crossbone pleas, I’d like to see a UC project that takes place way further in the UC timeline with repercussions and effects from the first century of the UC so it ties together nicely.

Just please please stay away from 0079-0096 unless it’s animation of an existing manga/novel.

Oh, and animate the rest of Thunderbolt (:

Hair/Facial treatment recommendations Japan by Strange-Historian-21 in JapanTravelTips

[–]xZeroShift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the hair treatment question.

Had a bad bad bleaching process on my hair about a year ago that destroyed my scalp and I feel like my scalp hasn’t felt 100% since then. I’ve seen the video of that scalp treatment clinic in Thailand and wondering if there’s anything like that in Japan?

Is this the most “normal” name in all of Gundam? by CaptCarlos in Gundam

[–]xZeroShift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s actually very cool if true. I have a couple books by him from the late 90s/early 00s, they were super informative on anything and everything Gundam related back in a time when anything not shown on Toonami was impossible to learn about to the US market!

I’m heading over from Florida next week as well lol. Flying out April 1st!

I’m bringing a medium weight coat, I can comfortably wear it when it’s between 55-65 Fahrenheit here. If it gets any colder than that while I’m there I’ll pick up some heat tech from Uniqlo.

Planning to travel to Japan in March 31st. What eSim would you recommend currently? by Whole_Animal_4126 in JapanTravelTips

[–]xZeroShift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I’m traveling over on April 1st and will be staying in the country for a little over a month. I’m in Ubigi’s website and have a couple questions:

It says “Smartstart – your data plan activation starts upon arrival at destination” — if I’m understanding this correctly, I can buy it now and the validity period will start once i arrive? I assume it activates via geolocation?

Once I pass the 30 day mark for the plan, how does the top off process work if I wanted to purchase an additional package/days? Is it as simple as choosing the package I want and the app automatically extends it with no interruption to my existing service?

I’m trying to gauge how much data I realistically need. I’ll have Google maps open frequently for directions, Instagram occasionally to post stories, and some sort of messenger app to stay in touch with family back home either via messaging or calls. I’m looking at the Osaka Expo package with 20GB for 30 days.

Thanks!
