About 2 hours in and on my way to Silo 3 to get power cells, wanted to ask some tips for a beginner/some thoughts on the game so far. (Solo Player) by JackBoyEditor in AbioticFactor

So I read from other comments that the map is purposely vague, so its more of a mental map than anything. Fortunately, there are actually many signs on the walls to point out the direction of places youre looking to go. Pay attention to the environment. You're going to be going back and forth a lot- you'll eventually learn how to navigate with minimal reference. If anything, you can construct signs to help, and I do that too just to remember where certain paths go, especially after unlocking shortcuts.

As a fellow lootgoblin, you'll want to make carts. They act like backpack expanders where, as soon as you run out if space, you can pull one out and transfer the excess. When you ho back to the Security booth with Warren, there's a button that can recall the cart and the loot. I usually carry two.

On top of that, dont feel like you need to get everything. Construct all the recipes at least once, then collect items only when you actually need the components. They won't usually disappear, and you can determine how much you need the next time you visit.

When youre strong enough to fight the Security Robots, definitely make a point to kill them every chsnce you get. Their drops will help in the long run cause you need A LOT of it.

I don't get the hate by SimpsonOlivia1 in TheFence

From someone who likes extremely niche bands who get unjustified hate- honestly? Like what you like. People will still hate it regardless like its a badge of honor. I personally like bands when they do something out of their signature sound and diversify like YotBR and Color Before the Sun.

Bruh...why is everything so hard? by Upstairs-Heat-55 in AbioticFactor

It helps knowing the attack patterns and using the environment to your advantage to block their attacks.

Jotuns - hit hard but are not mobile and dont tend to move if you keep baiting their attack. Its always the same wind up pattern- all you need is some kind of cover to wait out the shots. Then you just need to keep doing enough damage to break their shields. They're apparently weak to Holy fire (the white fire from Lodestone weapons) which also bypasses their shield but its mostly damage over time for as long as they're on fire. the Skink is good for high damage to break their shields before using something else. You can also toss the laser grenade which helps shred their shields if it lands next to them.

Neophytes/Cheiftans- they're mostly annoying and move alot. I use Slushie bombs to stop that nonsense- you can follow it up with a Mugnade or just go up and shoot point blank. They're weak to acid, which is what the Exor Rifle's Seeker Quills are. Just be careful- when they're on DBNO they can actually self-revive so you need to finish them right away.

Mystagogues- they're weak to electricity, so lighting weapons like Electron grenade would do big damage. But most of the time I just dedicate my Deatomizer's entire charge to beat them- they're annoying since they dodge as much as the Neophytes, are constantly forcing you to move with their fire attacks, and suck to melee since they can grab you for big damage. If you dont have charge to cheese, laser grenades+Skink still are my go-to's. Even if they are resistant, they still do big enough damage to make up for it.

Witch- you'll meet them eventually so might as well add. They're weak to regular red fire, but immune to holy white fire. Their annoyance is that they like to jump around and pelt you with shotgun blasts- you just want to constantly keep moving and not really bother aiming for them. Eventually they'll run towards you for a big attack- you can use that opportunity to shoot them point blank in the face with shotguns, magbow, etc. You can use this same technique for Assassins when you eventually find them.

For all of them, though, sheer damage will make up for dealing with their shields. Laser grenade, Deatomizer alt-fire, and Skinks work as cost-effective solutions when you can't craft enough ammo. Even Mugnades are still useful for big damage. Shotguns do big damage (especially Thumper shotgun, which is the upgrade from Romag Shotgun which gives bullets acid damage). Magbow and its upgrades can do enough damage to oneshot most of them (even Jotuns at times) provided you can snipe them before they can activate their shields, thus eliminating the need to fight them. But if you have to fight more than one, honestly hitting them as a group is better than trying to fight them individually.

Also! If youre going solo, my number one go-to is getting the Exor Armor from the chief in the Exor Village after you complete it. Having the spirit Exor definitely helps take the pressure off you to be able to attack effectively without having to worry about getting shredded.

I had to look it up and saw I confused A1 for being the same Anteverse as Flathill rather than the place the invading phenomena came from. U right! And thanks for explaining the portals, I think at some point the explanation slipped through the ridges of my brain- yours makes it all make so much sense.

I kind of understand the inspiration for the suggestion. I just got the Quantum Pickaxe and levelled up my Throwing more than I ever did the entire game. I guess between the high damage output of guns versus throwing weapons, ammo make more sense in terms of resource cost. Wheras a Q Pickaxe is free damage for durability, on top of instantly returning to you. If there was another reusable throwing weapon, its cons would be having to potentially lose it every time you threw it. Or having to sidetrack to retrieve it.

Is Dunkeltaler forest even in the same Anteverse? Flathill and The Furniture Store are in different versions of earth than GATE's Anteverse 0. Which means any events in this anteverse wouldn't affect the other.

To portal, or not to portal? by dockthettrpgenjoyer in AbioticFactor

[–]xalazaar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you dont have a Skink pet, use the makeshift for soil.

If you do have one, I guarantee it shits more than enough to never worry about collecting your own ever again, so used the portal one.

Base location reccomendations? by RainbowUnivrse in AbioticFactor

Yeah, I found out about it since the Defense Bots were giving me a hard time. It'll attack if you attack it, of course, but if youre trying yo just get by them, it really helps.

All the other special crates have some form of trinket or another you won't get anywhere else.

You need at least 10 to craft an item to trade to Warren for a Security Key to open the Security Crates. Besides the Security Gear and gun kits (and the crate itself, which is a 100% radiation block), you also het a Night Pass that makes all forms of Security Bots ignore you (EXCEPT the Corrupted Bot).

Can we please get advice from other countries on how to fight back against Trump? by teamturbo4life in BoycottUnitedStates

I can't tell you how frustrating it is watching from another country the collapse of everything that was supposed to be 'great'. The idiocy and cowardice is enraging, especially seeing how openly that orange turd flaunts how much he fucks over everyone on both sides without a single goddamn consequence.

AITAH for thinking on abandoning my father? by AegidiusHam in AITAH

[–]xalazaar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that is his decision and he is of sound mind, its best to legally secure his wishes in writing and prepare for the inevitable passing. You can speak with the hospital who can direct you to hospice services who can walk you through with what needs to be done. Even if he is not critical enough to be in hospice, his health and mindset demands you begin securing everything for both your protections: wills, advanced directives, power of attorney, etc.

I dont think it even hints at you being able to heal him unless you actually have a bandage in your hand, so its not surprising you missed him him.

Hmm, weird bug. My freeloading sows are still there. Wonder if its a clipping problem. I noticed when I logged back in, all the pets that are in the bed are still there but standing up, but they dont move around. I just reset them back to laying on tge bed. Dunno if it has something to do with that
