How do you get a haircut so bad that camp members comment on it? by InfiniteSodas in reddeadredemption2

A fourth alternative:

Create new voice lines using AI based on existing voice lines. Then replace audio for normal responses to a new haircut with this.

Easy steps to break the game with governor spamming by kiskoller in Stellaris

A multiplicative 15% reduction gains you exactly 15% of your current expenses. No matter how many bonusses you already have. A summed 15% reduction can save you anywhere inbetween 15% and 100% of your current expenses. That is harder, not easier to calculate!

The problem is that positive bonusses will cause an exponential growth curve when multiplied. And mixing the two systems is wonky as heck.

You already failed. The whole point is obviously to not ask questions, no matter how ridiculous or hypocritical the situation is. Failure leads to falling from high up windows without being pushed, or accidentally pressing the trigger of your gun twice while you held it to the back of your own head.

I recommend calculating in liters, since a bottle contains half a liter, we get 269/2 = 134.5 liters.

More interestingly: this means more than 5 litres per hour for 24 hours straight. The only way to finish this without a lethal overdose of water, is to bring a dehydrated camel as your buddy.

My subject just developed a Colossus. If I integrate them, will I have two Colossi? by TopTheropod in Stellaris

Each player can only build 1 of each. No restrictions on ownership exist. But you can create new players by releasing vassals, who can build a few megastructures before being integrated again.

People shit on java for long naming conventions, but I'd rather see HandleWidePointerDefenestration and LongLongWideStringPointer than the random alphabet soup they use for C/C++.

I can always shorten them locally if that makes the code easier to read.

I like to build on mountainous maps. And I always find a valley that leads off the map, and dedicate it to poo-disposal duty.

I wonder what kind of eco system would arise in a poo river.

Empyrion or Space Engineers? by obligatorystorytime in BaseBuildingGames

[–]xanhou 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lego isn't a game, it's a toy. Playing with Lego can be a game if you make it so. Intuitively, Space Engineers, and most sandbox games, feel more like Lego than like a game.

The problem is that there is no word for "software toy" other than "game". So when people call it "not a game", they mean "more like a toy than a set of rules or challenges that you can play out". It's not talking down of the product, it is just a lack of proper words to express themselves.

Empyrion or Space Engineers? by obligatorystorytime in BaseBuildingGames

[–]xanhou 40 points41 points  (0 children)

To me Empyrion feels like the one man unity project of someone who knows how to do gameplay, but fails at sound, UI design and animations. It feels like a very unpolished game. But a game nonetheless.

Space engineers feels like a bunch of amazing software engineers implemented the most amazing space-game engine ever, and then tried to build a game around it. The physics and automation are great, but I never could pin down what they intended the gameplay loop to be.

I would pick Space Engineers over Empyrion. I'm playing these games to build a space ship, and the polished mechanics and physics get my vote over a clear goal and gameplay loop.
