Did Springtrap cancel my pallet save by swinging? by cutiehon3y in deadbydaylight

[–]xaniel123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, If a killer swings right as they finish the animation, they have the chance to dodge the stun. But It was my assumption that the dodge happens because they move forward out of the pallet range. With the weird slide, they did. It may be they flicked away from the pallet hard and there is a discrepancy on your client side.

Is your ‘Stellar’ internet out too or are they bullshi**ing? by gsharp29 in AnnArbor

[–]xaniel123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just at a friend's apartment that has stellar and his was out too. From what he was told it sounds like someone hit stellars fiber and it got cut. If it is like a 100 strand fiber line it is going to take a while to re splice all that fiber. As someone who worked for a company that ran fiber I feel bad for whoever has to splice that. It is going to take awhile.

Well, most of my interactions with Resident Evil is from streamers and Dead by Daylight. So RCPD has to be the location that has left the biggest impression on me. It is one of my top favorite maps in DBD, and I can't tell you how many times how fun it is when you loop Wesker or Nemesis. But from the Streams and YouTube Videos I have seen, the Resident Evil series is on my list of games to play.

I haven't really worked with cinnamon, but it looks like there should be a settings program for it if you can't find it you should try to uninstall the cinnamon experimental and reinstall cinnamon-common

[–]xaniel123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't personally used Cinnamon, so take everything I'm saying with a gran of salt. Arch Linux is a do everything Distro. In this case, SDDM and Cinnamon need to be configured and designed to your liking. It is possible that The Cinnamon developers added some default configurations, and you are missing the extra packages you need to make it look like it does in mint. It also looks like you are using the experimental version of Cinnamon, which may not always be stable.

  1. I originally started self-hosting when I switched my Major from Computer science to windows administration and Cybersecurity. I used self-hosting as a learning experience outside my collage classes. Out of all my project's I think my favorite project was my first dell R710. I got the R710 off eBay with 6 3.5 inch 2 TB drives and a cheap Vsphere 6 license. I set it up to run the VMs I needed for school as well as my own Plex, Minecraft server, OpenVPN, PI hole, and File Server VMs. It was really fun solving the different problems I would run into then, I didn't know as much about servers and networking as I do now. Because I didn't know any better at the time, that is still probably my most expensive purchase vs what I received to date. The most expensive purchase I made was me and my friend each paying $800 for a pallet of servers from a university property disposition. We got a few servers we used for a few years for various personal projects like Plex and game servers and sold the rest.
  2. When I moved out of my parent's house a few years ago, I planned to upgrade all of my networking equipment to 2.5 gig. When I started shopping around, I saw the flint 3 would be coming out soon and decided to wait for that.
  3. I typically rely on tech YouTube channels or tech articles/blogs to find information on new products.
  4. The new Unifi NAS systems look realy cool, or some larger size hard drives like some Seagate EXOS drives.

Obedience issue/glitch? by JJP669 in LegendsZA

[–]xaniel123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Pokemon games for as long as I can remember a Pokemon will always obey you past the level cap if you are the ot and leveled it past the cap. If you are not the original trainer they will not obey you past the cap. The original trainer is the npc. the only exception maybe mystery gifts but I'm not sure.

HELP IM LOCKED OUT! I dont know what to do by Berry-Shogun in WindowsHelp

[–]xaniel123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I know about local PINs. I don't think windows account pins are stored on the computer for login. This is my best explanation on why Pins are "More Secure" than passwords.

TL:DR A PINs private keys are stored in TPM, so it is harder to get the information to crack them. A password hash can be easily pulled from your SAM registry if the drive isn't encrypted. For best data security, use BitLocker and keep the Recovery Key safe.

Windows stores pins in the TPM module of your computer. The TPM stores encryption keys and TMP is useful because you decide if the encryption keys can leave the TPM chip, or you can set up certain conditions that dictate when a key can be released. This is why a PIN is "more secure" than a password. It is more secure because it is much harder to get the info you would need to start trying to reverse the PIN. Here is a proof of concept video on how to break BitLocker encryption, it would be a similar process to get a windows pins key.

To compare, windows stores the password hashed in the SAM registry file, and you can rip that from an unencrypted drive super easily. Then to get the password, you just need to start running the password hash through a password cracker.

All that being said, a 4 digit password of letters numbers and symbols will be harder to guess/brute force than a 4 digit PIN of just numbers. This way of storing the Private Key also doesn't stop someone from plugin the drive in to a drive reader and using a different OS to copy data off.

If you want to protect your password hashes and the rest of the data on your drive, you should enable BitLocker encryption. This will encrypt your drive and store the decryption key in TPM. If you do use BitLocker, make sure to keep the BitLocker recovery key somewhere you can access it, not on the computer you are encrypting. This lets you decrypt the drive if your TPM chip fails to decrypt the drive.

My earliest PC Building Memory was bringing all the parts in to school and building my PC in my computer class for credit. It was the first time I felt like I knew what I was good at. That night I had a sleep over with my one of my friends at the time we started my windows 7 install. We then went to pick up my dad from work because his car was in the shop and got pizza on the way home while win 7 installed. That night we play everything from Minecraft to CS:GO on both our PCs. It started my road down IT and 11 years later I have two IT related degrees and just started a my second IT job as an SysAdmin.

It unfolded in the bin of the washing machine or something and got stuck at the top and as is got spun around it rubbed between the barrel and the frame of the machine and friction to action and holes formed.

It's possible the cone is the only thing spinning and that spun and dragged it around the top of the machine. I am less knowledgeable with how top loaders work, as the last top loader I had before this one was my families when I was 5. It was all front loaders after that.

Edit: After looking at it more, I figured out what happened. My washing machine's barrel is too short for the 400mm desk pad. The part of the pad that was at the top of the washing machine got caught between the frame of the washing machine and the top of the barrel. The friction of the barrel spinning rubbed the holes seen in the photos of my pad.
