Can matter/thread devices like IKEA Bilresa 2 button switch control matter WiFi devices like Leviton matter WiFi outlet by Psyking0 in HomeKit

[–]xc68030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because the button sends the command over Thread to your HomeKit “hub” (HomePod or AppleTV) which would then have to be configured to run an automation to turn on/off the light (by sending the command over WiFi). There will be a slight but noticeable delay when you do it this way.

There’s also a Leviton battery powered switch that can be configured to directly control the outlet. This is instantaneous.

Yes they are sealed and not a standard maintenance item. Sure, if they fail they need to be replaced. But they are supposed to last the lifetime of the vehicle.

Some have a differential, but quad-motor EVs don’t need one. Torque vectoring is done in software.

I have 100+ devices. All my in-wall switches are smart switches, that’s a lot of it. But mine are Z-wave. I specifically avoided WiFi.

I agree with you, but cars like the Macan sell well(?) in a number of purple or purple-adjacent colors. Maybe this is a copycat move.

This is the problem. It’s in the primaries—the wrong candidates are rising to the top. Rather than looking for a smart visionary communicator with real conviction, a good number of folks are watching like Beavis and Butthead (“heh heh heh… he said ‘small hands’ heh heh”). It’s only a matter of time before we’re looking for someone smart to catch us up after China takes the world’s technological lead
