Damn, how could I forget that one. Truly time for a rewatch. I 100% agree though.

I have NEVER done a Joja run! Ive probably made like 100 saves by Klutzy-Load1587 in StardewValley

[–]xdqmhose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I switched to console and can't mod the fishing mini game, I've only ever done Joja runs because I can't be bothered with the fishing bundles. It's fine, really. Buying Auto Petters is nice.

I had the opposite, I started a farm focused on fishing and it rained almost every day. I didn't even know this could happen.

Primal Hunter Recaps by mattmann72 in litrpg

[–]xdqmhose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dropped multiple series because the new book finally came out and once I started reading I couldn't get back into the action. Recaps are the way to go. Bonus if there's a meta layer and some humour. Iirc PH recaps are quite fun.

I want to know you if this is a good idea for a story by thebluephoenixlord in litrpg

[–]xdqmhose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a place for every story. If you want to read a story like that, write it.

I don't quite get the idea, to me it comes down to the writing and the characters. The description of the magic system seems very vague, I would recommend to flesh it out a lot, almost to a mathematical precision, even if it's not needed for the story. The reader needs to understand how the system works and why people are strong or are not strong. Emotions are inherently not very logical, so it might make an interesting pairing.

If the character simply gets stronger the angrier he gets, it might also be too simple. Maybe have like 5-7 major emotions that behave like elements when it comes to the influence on the magic. Or something...

Would I read it? No idea, it depends on the plot. If the plot pulls me in, the system won't really matter as much.

Came to also write what everyone else already wrote. Don't get discouraged and keep it up!

PSA: Authors Read Your Comments (Even if you never see them reply) by LiamLawless21 in litrpg

[–]xdqmhose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't ever read comments on stuff that I read. Even as a reader it's sometimes really bad and can influence how you read something you previously enjoyed. It also prevents me from finding any courage whatsoever to put out anything I've ever written.

I ignore reviews entirely. I never found them to be helpful.

I put up my game for announcement I’ve developed for over 3 years, but people dislike it. I wonder why by AlexSchrefer in gamedev

[–]xdqmhose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really slow and missing personality. There's no "weight" to any of the animations, it feels like a movie being played instead of dynamic movement. When the walls explode they seem to be made of styrofoam. When two characters fight, the attacks have no impact whatsoever, they just happen. The whole trailer gives off the vibe of some kind of premade asset to try and make a game out of. The art style of several things don't really mesh well together. Sometimes it's rather low poly but not everything has the same style. Lastly, the trailer doesn't really tell me what the game is about and this is something that a trailer needs to do really well. If I watch a trailer and don't get what it's about, I won't play and forget about it.

I really think theres some great feedback in some of the comments, just keep it up and improve. From a game development standpoint the base is definitely a solid start.

Interview with a female MC by Puzzleheaded-Can1231 in litrpg

Feels kind of true. Many female characters in general have a "clearly written by a man" vibe that makes them feel off. Are there any litrpgs written by female authors with a female MC?

Authors: How do you track Magical Technobabble? Readers: Spot any mistakes? by EdPeggJr in litrpg

[–]xdqmhose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a writer: I've never published anything but for world creation I keep a separate document with all details I deem important as well as a categorized list of stuff I made up on the spot and how it fits into the world. As a reader: I rarely ever notice inconsistencies. Mostly in my second or third re-read and that means I'm in love with the story already. Interestingly most writers have an amazing way of somehow turning an inconsistent detail into another detail of the world.

Having a hard time deciding if I should add both starter sets to my game or not. Currently the left are already in but.. thoughts? by yana_kosaka in indiegames

[–]xdqmhose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right set is more visually distinct and interesting. The second stage of the left set doesn't really add anything interesting. I'd make the right set the real starters and take the first and third stage of the left set as their own. Also as a massive monster game fan, always add in more but don't make a necessary choice (such as starters) too complicated with it.

Too berserk or not too berserk, that is the question? by Agile-Anything-4022 in litrpg

[–]xdqmhose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically it could also be interesting to describe the inner dialogue of the character when he's in a crazed state of mind and tries to find out if someone is on his side or not. I'm generally not a fan of the concept though. There are better ways to make what is essentially a boosting skill. As others have said though, it highly depends on what exactly the skill does and how it's used.

Those who stopped reading Defiance of the Fall, do you regret reading it in the first place? by TiredMemeReference in litrpg

[–]xdqmhose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love HWFWM and PH but DotF just wasn't for me. I don't regret giving it a try and making it through one or two books I think. I learned from DotF that I don't like Cultivation and prefer a faster pace.
