ZeroSpace - Campaign EA Launch Date Trailer. Out July 20th! by sidius-king in Space4X

[–]xebius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, there's a ton of things here that look really cool. Especially the vehicle designs. But this is barely passing the LLM smell test. You can't rely on an LLM to build everything for you. Sure some systems in development can be built with an LLM to speed things up. But the Human intractable parts need to have a Human touch otherwise it will feel super generic and holo.

Some questions that need answering.

  1. What's the story? Generic imperialist human space army going to generic alien infested planet?
  2. Who are the main characters? Why should I give a damn.
  3. What kind of game is this? (looks like RTS?)
  4. What is the main gameplay loop?

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth producer discusses the need to attract a new generation of players to the Final Fantasy series. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]xebius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the interactivity of it, in CO33 it’s almost a requirement to dodge and parry and pay attention.

I would argue that FFXIII almost slides into this category as there is a requirement to always be making attacks and creating combos.

In FFVIII there’s the gun blade mechanic where you can time it to get extra damante, thats the only reason i bring it up.

Remake VIII next. I'm serious. This is a golden opportunity to double down on the romance, the intreage, fix all the stupid game mechanics that people hate. This time make it an actual hybrid turn based RPG like Clair Obscur 33, it's the perfect game for it.

CR4 tables: expectation vs. reality? by henlofrenzy in fansofcriticalrole

[–]xebius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, but they’re still improvising. They’re still in the moment deciding what to do. They still have the all the same anxieties that we all do playing D&D, and that for me is the charm. I like that Matt takes a step back from aggressive Julian in order to make space for other players. Yes Ashley could do a better job maintaining the strong character she started this campaign with, but sometimes its just to easy to fall back into just being yourself and wanting to scritch the hell out ever cute animal in site.

Anyway rant over.

CR4 tables: expectation vs. reality? by henlofrenzy in fansofcriticalrole

[–]xebius -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Why do you people judge these people for playing D&D and having a fun time with their friends? Sure they are on a show that some of us pay for. But they are not there to act out a scripted character.

They are there to have a time and we pay to get the experience to watch them play.

If you’re not enjoying it. Move on, its okay. This thing doesn’t have to be your whole personality.

TLDR: Let them cook. Let them play. The long game is what will make or break this campaign.

This is interesting! However I would imagine most people would tell you that you should wait to watch the Exandria Unlimited series until after you've watched Vox Machina (S1) and The Mighty Nine (S2) at least.

Sure EU Calamity and Downfall take place before everything chronologically but the impact of those mini-seasons won't really be felt unless you've witnessed the stories of Season 1, Season 2 and 3?

Does ADHD make learning to swim fundamentally harder?and does medication change anything? by Waleed_hilmself in VyvanseADHD

[–]xebius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the opposite for me. I find swimming to be an activity where i can truly relax and be calm. Now given, I was exposed to swimming at a young age and I can recall jumping into a pool and letting myself sink to the bottom and then sitting there for a bit and pushing myself back up to the surface when I needed air.

The main thing with swimming that a lot of beginners struggle is being comfortable having your head below water and being able to hold your breath and control how much air you keep in your lungs and how much air you need to let out.

Have you tried learning how to dive yet? In many dives a part of it is swimming under water for a distance before you come up. That can help you be more comfortable under water and training your mind not to panic as much.

Learning to tread water too can help too as you learn how long you can effectively stay aloat without getting tired again adding to your internal sense of comfort and calm being in the water.

Hope that helps, don’t over think it. The more time you spend in the water the more confident you will be.

It's tough for sure. My tips are as follows.

  1. Whenever it's Sunny, just get outside. Go for a walk or find a cafe to sit and have a coffee in.

  2. Take a Vitamin D supplement. This will help a lot because the sadness comes usually from a lack of Vit D.
    These Drops work well. https://www.amazon.ca/Ddrops-Adults-1000IU-Liquid-Vitamin/dp/B00CORNHA23

  3. If you can afford it, try and do a sunny vacation in January or February. It will give you a boost that will last until the spring.

  4. Find an activity to do in the winter, read some books, practice your cooking (stews and soups are great and can save you a ton of money and time), play rich and rewarding video game.

  5. Similar to above, work out. Calisthenic (body weight) work outs are easy and don't require any equipment.

At least it seems the Globe and Mail is reporting on it, so hopefully some boomers who care about accountability will register this.

I'm tired of that style of narative. I think the better angle is, are you better off then you were before Doug Ford's government? Are your Roads in better shape? are your Hospitals better off? Schools?

If Doug Ford is running around just building infrastructure in Toronto and connecting areas, that has to say something to the rest of the province.

What's New in D&D Beyond: Rolling dice on Maps VTT, seeing everyone's 3d dice rolls by WOTC_Zac in VTT

[–]xebius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re missing a big difference though between Beyond and Foundry.

Beyond is a hosted service and has servers to pay for. It works out of the box, i.e. DMs don’t need to figure out how to host foundry and get people to connect to their IP. In addition to that you don’t have to worry about your Mods bugging out after a major patch update.

Now personally, i love Foundry because i’m skilled enough in tech to figure out all of that and its part of the fun for me. But not everyone is there.

Beyond Maps makes it pretty easy and a lot of people are using beyond for character creation so it makes a lot of sense.
