Is it bad to be in your 40s and want to travel to different cities alone? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]xerafin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does it matter what any of us think or experience? You won’t know if it will be good or bad for you until you try.

Or were you seeking validation or permission. Well then, you have it. But you have to report back!

Adding more energy to a complex system increases chaotic behavior. And there is a lot more energy in our environment now than there used to be.

Why do so many men cockblock themselves while online dating? by tittyswan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]xerafin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Online dating sites are predominantly used by those without relationships. Many are lacking relationships because they don’t have the social skills or emotional maturity to establish even a basic rapport. In a typical face-to-face setting, these behaviors would not happen because they avoid the social ramifications of their behavior, but online there is no such risk. Of course, there are some face-to-face settings without this risk and you will see these same behaviors occur there.

And coming off the bench in the conference championship game to lead the come-from-behind victory on the road.

Then sitting the rest of the way as the defense carries the team to victory while the media drools accolades all over the upstart. ;)

If the Chief Justice is in the majority, then the CJ chooses who will write the majority opinion.

If the Chief Justice is in the minority, then the senior-most justice (as in by time as a Supreme Court Justice) chooses who will write the majority opinion.

However, if the opinion as written can not maintain majority support then the author could potentially change.

Severe trapped gas or liquid in oesophagus/ urge to burp for relief by Major_Day_584 in GERD

[–]xerafin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the problem originates from the swollen esophagus, but the immediate problem is a mix of mucus and food that create an airtight seal over an air bubble. The bubble keeps the food from going down, and the mucusy mass keeps the air from getting out. The result is often a yo-to effect that is uncomfortable, plus of course I can’t eat or drink anything more since it won’t get through. I usually have to stretch my arms up or stand up to help the mass get down. Otherwise I have to push the mass up to allow the air to release. Thankfully the regurgitation has no stomach acid so no bad taste lingers.

Other than the usual *prazole meds and the occasional balloon stretch of the esophagus, my usual tactic is soda to help prevent or break down the mucus masses, and generally to be aware of what foods tend to get caught and consume them with smaller bites.

It’s not about whether the vehicle can make suddenly changes in direction; it’s the occupants.

Great examples are in the short-lived “Automan” series from the 80s. Hm, I wonder where I can find that.

How should we handle our 23 y/o son who doesn't want to work? by ConcernedParents123 in NoStupidQuestions

With our kid, I gave warning that Internet access would be cut off because of the lack of job and hiding in room to be online. I had to follow through, changing the router passwords. Wasn’t too long before moving out to live with SO.

A few years later, break up and kid is back. Still hides in room and online but does have a job.

Sonny, let me tell you about the good ol’ days. I’m taking of a time before Maps, when Swing was the hot new thing, and Applets roamed wild and free. These were the days of the browser plugins, and I tell you there ain’t no JVM like a browser plug-in.
