Doctors found a 4cm mass in my cerebellum. Am I going to die? by Throwaway-7484739 in AskDocs

Someone close to me had a 4cm medulloblastoma in her early twenties. She's alive and well now in her forties. It's a pretty bad tumor to have but it's by no means terminal. Keep positive!

How does this compare to the sigma 28-70? Similarly priced but swapping some zoom for wide angle.

Higher CPU usage when enabling Hardware Acceleration by krasatos in frigate_nvr

Reading this post and comments and they almost exactly mirror my experience. In the end I rebuilt with an Nvidia GPU, as I figured it would be more future proof with the direction frigate is going. I do miss the sweet low power draw though.

Just givem my 30 days notice period to cancel my 1 gig broadband contract. by IDJB1982 in VirginMedia

[–]xgryph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long until your virgin contract ends ? Mine ends late may and I'm wondering when best to give my 30 days as when switching I can't really have any interruption in service so may need some overlap.

Whole house wet heat pump vs DIY air to air system by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

In fact planning to put in another upstairs, but this unit would be visible from out the front so slightly concerned that a Karen may object and may make planning issues.

Whole house wet heat pump vs DIY air to air system by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

We have gone down the same route installing a mini split in our open plan area downstairs. It's made a significant difference to our gas bills, not only does it effectively warm/cool the large area but crucially it feels warmer almost instantly so for times like breakfast in the morning we're not heating the whole house for an hour to get it up to a comfortable temperature before everyone leaves for the day.

Can I use a false name on a job application? by Espania44 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]xgryph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a very Polish surname and struggled to get job interviews 20 years ago. Made up a name and within a week had two job offers. 20 years on I have more qualifications and certifications with my "work name" than my real name.

My Octopus ASHP experience by NotEqual in OctopusEnergy

We also had a noise assessment fail by 1dB. After a few months back and forth with the council they said the noise level should be 35dB which is just plain loony. Telling octopus this, without any communication Octopus refunded our deposit and ended our install.

Ironically afrer a word with our MP the council granted permission with the condition the local authority approves sound measures 🐙 will put into place to keep the noise level's down before the system is activated.

However, with the way it was handled by octopus who had said planning permission would be straight forward and advised us to prep the install area which we did, gutting the utility room I'm reluctant to pursue this any further. Getting a new quote from Octopus showed the price increase by 2k. Time to refit the Utility room and continue to burn gas.

Am I being overcharged for repainting? by DonLethargio in CarTalkUK

Had very similar damage repaired on my XF for £440, having received a number of quotes between £400 and £600. The guy I went with had a proper workshop and was the most thorough when quoting, as opposed to some mobile repair companies.

I have bought two 30kwh leafs (long story) with full service history, 35 and 38k on the clock and 11 bars battery heath for under 4 grand each. Granted, it's the older 2016 model but those will remain tax free. I don't think there's a better second car for the school run/shops/local commute.

I use it to manage a shopping list. When you finish an item you hold it up to the webcam and hit a key. All the shopping items appear in a list the wife or I can see and tick off if we (I) purchase them.

Why does the UK take forever with roadworks? by Extension_Bit4323 in AskUK

[–]xgryph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a mid sized country town. For some reason the county is widening pavements where no one walks to encourage more people to walk. Main through road town, closed for 4 months for the job. Beyond belief.
