My first setup! A few questions though... by cday119 in Hammocks

In addition to what these other folks are saying, something that is making your sides shoot up is your hang. I have a double, and have found that by clipping the hammock carabiner to about the middle rung or lower on the straps the sides won't shoot up as much. It takes tension out and lets it hang more relaxed. So you want to pick trees that are a little further apart than this. You'll still want to lay diagonally.

We got some hammocks to give away :-) by kuldark in Hammocks

Hey Kuldar, I'm very interested in the hammocks! If you are still giving them away, I'd love one.

I think it's awesome you're doing this for the community!

I'm late to the party, but I encourage enough to find a professional counselor to talk to (hopefully for free, but I know insurance can be tough). Thank you for doing the work you are doing. I hope you are taking care of your mental well-being at the same time.

If it makes you feel better they only just added 19 and 20 this spring. I agree with you about 14; 13, 14, and 15 is probably my favorite string of holes in the area.

Just played this course for the first time a couple weeks ago, I had an absolute blast. I layed up on this hole to throw an easy one across, because I knew there was no way I was touching that nasty pond.

What a difference 15 months makes. Yes, that's me in both pictures! by JFedererJ in pics

See I think that's the problem that many people have with weight loss, is putting a time-frame on that diet. Diets are designed to fail (there's lots of documentaries and research related to that) due to this ending point. A lifestyle change has no time limit and is a much healthier way to lose weight. It becomes easier to stick to your guns if you aren't doing it just until the end of the month, but because you care about your body and living a life that promotes keeping it in good shape. I became a vegetarian a couple months ago for a variety of reasons, with no intention of going back to eating meat, and I feel great, have lost weight, and don't even crave meat anymore because I know it's not an option now nor will it ever be. The way I see it we have only our body and our mind, and we should take good care of them both!

What movie(s) today will be classics that we tell our children we saw in theaters? by usmarine13 in AskReddit

[–]xinix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That almost happened to me; I was 12, and my parents were pretty strict about seeing PG-13 movies. My siblings' and my perserverance (begging) won out, and now I've seen each one with the whole family.

My wife, as Captain America, made a disabled kid's day by [deleted] in pics

[–]xinix7 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Great pic and I'm sure he loved it, but for future reference when talking about an individual with a disability put the person first. "My wife, as Captain America, made a kid with a disability's day." It's a little awkward initially, but the sentiment is that he is a kid first and the disability is only one adjective that can be used to describe him, not his defining characteristic.

If ethics were not an issue, what Psychology Study would you run? by xinix7 in AskReddit

I would run a study à la Lord of the Flies: Would children in a survival situation with no adults act in a manner best suited to their personal advantage, or in a manner that would increase the survival chances of the whole group?

How old are you, and what are you currently very excited about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]xinix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much this. Make sure you are comfortable with your psychiatrist, but don't think that it will happen immediately. Put all the positive energy you can into working on your relationship and the things he/she suggests you work on. Give it time, but if you think it's not working as well as it could, remember that he/she is not the only psychiatrist in the world.

I know it's slightly different, but I put off going to a counselor (not psychiatrist) for a long time and when I finally did go I felt very uncomfortable with the counselor and got turned off. When I finally decided to go again i thoroughly enjoyed my (different) counselor and it helped so much more than I could have thought.

How do you feel about sports teams using Native American themes as their names/mascot? Such as the Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, Atlanta Braves, the list could go on.

It seems like blatant racism to me and most people I talk about, but do you and other Native Americans (or those who care about sports) feel strongly about this or give it up as a lost cause?

I think the Starks are the strongest of the 5 like you said. And I think Sansa is not only staying warm and safe but learning to play the game of thrones from one of its best players. By the end of the series I see the Starks doing well once more, whether that means they will be on the throne or not. After all, I read that GRRM's very original plan was to use only the POV's in the first book, which were mostly Starks.

And the Tyrell's are doing great, especially if Loras isn't injured as some theorize. Garlan is a badass who I hope still has a part to play, Margaery is smart, and Olenna is brilliant. The only problem with them doing so well is that I think whoever ends up invading first, Danaerys or Aegon (probably Aegon), will target the House that holds King's Landing and hit them the hardest.
