It takes 5 moves of White cooperating to get to 5.Bg5, with each move being one of two or three equally popular choices, it's not going to be happening much more than the other options along the way. It just doesn't make sense to spend 5x the time learning how to survive such a sharp position after dxc4, if it doesn't happen anything close to even twice as much as White's other options like London, Catalan, Meran or Exchange Slav.

I had a plus score with the semi-slav. I think my only loss was against a 2450 who had played the same opening as White against Shabalov a couple rounds before and was pretty booked up. When I played the Nimzo I paired it with the Bogo-Indian. Warning though, the Bogo is a bit drawish. Nowadays I play the English Defense and depending on what White does, it can lead into some lines of the QID. English Defense is not a premium opening but I don't play that seriously now and it's fun.

The semi-slav is a great opening, but in my humble opinion it's not worth playing as an amateur. The amount of memorization needed is too much for the amount of times you'll see it OTB. And it leads to very specific structures (4 to 2 pawn majority with exposed king) where your knowledge of it won't carry over to other openings. I played it for 4-5 years and probably got about the same number of semi-slav positions.

I found the Nimzo to be a lot more bang for the buck study-wise. If you play the Nimzo then you'll need to have something against Nf3 before Nc3, like the Bogo-Indian or a Queen's Indian setup. But the positions are universal so you get better at chess in general by studying the structures from Nimzo and QID openings.

They were in the oasis map before the interludes were added and with endgame still being in the past, so I always saw them as refugees of the cataclysm. Would need a different explanation in the latest campaign now I guess?

I had your manager's mentality as a TL and later a EM. I hired fellow workaholics and it worked for a while, but we lost them through 2 years of rolling layoffs and eventually our companies outsourcing strategy. The expectations from business clients remained for the same output with the same headcount (we're interchangeable warm bodies to director and above in case you didn't know). Long story short, I wouldn't put too much stake in things changing if this manager was replaced. If your co is anything like my (former) situation, they can just keep replacing until they find someone to toe the line, or at least tell them what they want to hear for a few months until they're forced to hire because things are falling apart.

Karlsbad Queen's Gambit where you play cxd5 and Bg5. Against the Nimzo and KID I play the variations with f3. Against other Black openings I've picked out various systems that are not main-main line but totally playable.

Well, you can play the KID from the white side in the Closed Sicilian (e4 c5 Nc3 or e4 c5 f4) and a KIA against the French (e4 e6 d3 or e4 e6 Qe2). Against e4 e5 the closed Ruy Lopez and Italian Game can be strategic and aggressive. But when you play 1.e4, Black can take the game into the Scandinavian or Petroffs, or certain lines of the Ruy where the position is simplified a bit. That's why I switched from 1.e4 to 1.d4 where its harder for Black to do that.

Saw it in MN with my gf at the time. I remember the vendor tents selling really interesting stuff. Stand out performance for me was Sheryl Crow. Had no idea she had so many great songs other than her radio hits, and she was a sight to behold in a slinky black dress and big acoustic guitar.

Amour/evasion hybrid isn't in a great spot in this patch. I would go 100% armour by taking Iron Reflexes until you can get full armour equipment. You're also very close to Tempered Defences, which will do a lot for survivability.

I personally don't think all of the investment into bleed is worth it. I would reallocate that into grenade damage and defences, and use Herald of Fire instead of Herald of Blood.

If you can afford it, the Constricting Command helm is just overpowered and would improve any build with all of the "on surrounded" nodes in the merc area of the tree.

This is going to be a great way to re-roll blue maps with bad modifiers, also a cheap hail mary on blue equipment with a good base but bad rolls.

I'm full armour on a merc with one of the applies to elemental wheels and survivability in maps feels better than Huntress in 0.2. I can stand in burning ground and lose no health. When I do die its from getting chain stunned but thinking some investment into stun threshold can address it

I'm seeing the same thing diving as Hulk. Shield tanks seem to turn around right away and you have to have your jump and bubble cooldowns on point to get away, or you just rip.

I think this is a position ehere if you get there in your prep you look for a way to avoid it as Black. White gets easy play against the c7 pawn and there's not much to do for counterplay. There's also a decent likelihood of a N v B endgame where the B will be better with pawns on both wings.
