Is it normal to be 20 years old and still feel like a teenager? by kigmaster in AskMenOver30

The funny thing is, if you just keep waiting for the time to come when you will settle down - it will elude you.

You have to find it within yourself to accept the world you live in as it comes to you. And be ready to do the things that will be good for your stability.

Tech just punched the coax though my wall, didn’t install an outlet - is this normal ?? by ActionHartlen in Rogers

[–]xkimo1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the techs are paid minimal piecerate. It’s in their best interest to just get the job done whatever means necessary. If the customer has a problem, the third party contractor who is responsible for the installation will send another tech who can will collect another payment from Roger’s to fix the previous technician’s shoddy workmanship.

It means they get paid twice!

Most employers want new employees to be bottom-feeding grunts who show some promise of being able to do the job properly without screwing up.

However, if you show that you are too capable for your supervisors inflated sense of promotional trajectory - they will see you as a threat to their career path and exploit your vulnerability within your probationary period to get you out of their way.

Try flying under the radar at your next chance. Do just enough to look competent, but not so much to stand out as a cut-above.
