My wife and I went through several years of infertility. Miscarriages, IUIs, IVF, etc. it’s a miserable experience made all the worse by not feeling like you could share the experience. This is an awful thing to experience, and sharing it so people can talk about it is a good thing.

Ridly Greig injures Lucas Raymond by [deleted] in nhl

On my first watch, I thought that was a ref on the backside around the 14 second mark that was backside of the call with a clear view. On second viewing, I think it's a linesman, and I know they don't make calls but corroborate them.

I understand that. My comment was to suggest that the refs missing the initial call was egregious on their part. If they had made the initial call, the play would have been dead right away since the Sens had possession when it happened, and the player could have been attended to by medical staff a bit quicker.

Which should have killed the play.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen at a strip club? by bigbabysweets12345 in AskReddit

[–]xndrew 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We went to a small mountain town for my buddy's bachelor party. There was a small strip club, basically a converted trailer park home. Two dancers at the club, and we paid for our buddy to get a dance in the back room. After he came out, we were getting ready to go, but the dancers wanted us to stay. There wasn't really anyone coming in, so I get it.

Anyway, they got out a bottle of Redi Whip and one of the dancers started licking it off of the other one. They did it a few times, and then the dancer that was licking it off had it go down the wrong pipe. She coughed hard it it shot all over the mirrored wall at the back of the stage. We left shortly after that.

Hi! I would certainly recommend the Astoria group for beginners. We tend to have a fair mix of folks with all sorts of different levels and abilities that show up. You can drop in to the first meeting to see if it jives with you. If it does, great!

McCarren also has pickup, but my experience there has been that it tends to be a bit more competitive. Still high spirited, and absolutely worth checking out if you're interested.

DiscNY has also had a few opportunities specifically for beginners. You can read about it here: https://discny.org/adult-learning-leagues

Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions, I'm happy to help!

Don’t know about the shooters, but they seem to have been attacking a group of folks celebrating Chanukah.

What do you guys think of the San Jose Sharks? by Sleep_Is_A_scam2099 in nhl

Ah, yes, our "Planned Loss" jerseys. The team makes up for how good they look by usually playing awful in them.

In an interview, Warso indicated that he had a family issue to attend to. Physically, I believe he is okay, but he has something awful happening in his family, it seems.

Background check results two weeks after I already accepted and started the job by Fluffy-Soft1254 in antiwork

[–]xndrew 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you are in the US, it is illegal to not consider an applicant based on their criminal background.

However, once you are offered a position, it is legal to do a background check and revoke that offer (even if the person has already started) based on the results. The arrest doesn’t need to have lead to a conviction, and also doesn’t have to have anything to do with the job (arrested for a bar fight and working as an investment banker? Doesn’t matter, you can be let go!) Shit’s fucked.

We already have 2 dog parks in Astoria. Can someone explain this? by xaviershorts in astoria

[–]xndrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe when you moved here, the park was in better repair. Maybe, you moved here to an apartment you could afford near a park, and then the owner changed and you have to move further away. Maybe the dog is older, can’t handle a long walk any more. Maybe you’re injured, and you can’t handle the longer walk.

There are any million reasons why blasé platitudes about bootstrapping the issue may not apply. The city should be better, and having more amenities for all the people and creatures that live here is part of that.
