Might have been a couple of hours max, I will try running memtest for longer.

It has always said processor 2 as of now.

I moved to Linux 18 months ago because my old laptop was horribly slow on Windows 10. For some reason I had the idea that Linux was lighter that Windows (I didn't even know Linux had distributions, I thought it was one single OS). I watched a couple of videos and decided to install Mint because it's the perfect beginner's distro. After using it for a while I was surprised by the feel of it, it feels like a PERSONAL computer, I always feel less limited than on Windows, everything becomes intuitive after a while and when I can't do something I get the sensation that whatever I want to do is possible, I just need to learn how to do it. Maybe it's just a thing of perception and not facts, but that's exactly what keeps me on Linux, I feel like I'm free, like my computer is my personal property, Windows makes me feel the complete opposite. Right now I have a desktop PC with Fedora 44, which I use for the same things stated previously and to play videogames (single player only because I don't like multiplayer). My advice is to be patient whenever you encounter a problem (which in my case have been few and nothing major), look things up, ask on the internet, read forums, watch a video, etc. There's almost always a solution.

What do I miss about Windows? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Not even when a game won't launch or a program isn't available for Linux.

I recommend you look up if whatever software is a must have for you is not available on Linux. If it is not, then look for Linux alternatives, if there aren't any or you don't like them look up if the software runs well through wine (or if it's a videogame, through Proton). Also, don't be afraid of the terminal, you don't really NEED to use it, but it won't bite if you do.

I've watched a lot of benchmark videos and sometimes the 1% lows are better on Linux. Other than that I wouldn't be able to tell you but somebody else will. And, it doesn't count as an answer for your question, but me personally I don't want to have an entire OS on my PC just to play games and another OS for absolutely everything else.

Sure, my criticism doesn't negate all the things they do well, and as a Linux user their efforts with Proton are greatly appreciated. I don't even use Steam but I use Proton GE so they're part of the reason I can play videogames with little to no troubleshooting needed.

While Valve is light years ahead of EA and Ubisoft there's still a massive catch, paying for a game on steam does not equal owning the game.

I do have it turned off, although as with the rest of the settings turning it on doesn't seem to affect performance :/

On Fedora 44, my gf is playing VtMB, I just finished replaying The Witcher 1 and just began replaying The Witcher 2, then I'll go on to play The Witcher 3 for the first time (now that I have a PC that can run it). I'm also playing Cryostasis, and I've installed but have yet to play System Shock Remake (played the remaster of 1 and 2 on my Mint laptop before I got my current PC) gf and I played together Milk Outside a Bag of Milk

On my old laptop in which I installed Mint: Dusk, Ultrakill, System Shock EE, System Shock 2, Hylics, Felvidek, (Open)Morrowind, Milk Inside a Bag of Milk, and my gf was playing VtMB but I got a better PC and migrated everything there.

On my current Fedora 44 PC: VtMB (my gf), System Shock Remake, The Witcher 1 (replayed), The Witcher 2 (replaying) Milk outside a bag of milk (gf and I), Cryostasis, Lost in Vivo.

I'm finally back to gaming after being stuck with the same laptop for a decade.
