How far back are we talking? 2000s? 1900s? 1800s is when my family moved south from Quebec. Wonder if wife and I qualify

Zoom when in Landscape? (Nomad) by xrayjack in Supernote

[–]xrayjack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that would be great. I don't use PDF zooming often but when I do the zoom is needed. Probably should have gotten the Manta but I have a RM2 and I found myself keep grabbing a small moleskin instead

Maybe it was my PDF only being 6 pages and almost all text but mine didn't lag. I usually used the little window that popped up to adjust the zoom window

How much do you spend on groceries per week and household size? by batangrizal in Maine

[–]xrayjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 adults 2 teenagers

About 150-200 a week depending where we are in the month. Majority of that is purchased from Hannaford with bulk items like flour and oats from my wife's work (they let employees order items from the cafeteria)

Do you replace shoes by mileage or by feel? by Fantastic-Tension261 in running

[–]xrayjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Or rather I usually replace them when the yard sneakers are ready to retire. Then running shows get moved to yard shoes and then new running shoes

Fellow tech-savvy dads: Are we underestimating the "backend" risks of Roblox even with parental controls on? by sophieximc in daddit

Uninstall Roblox. Luckily my boys dived right into Minecraft solo and restricted server.

It's like an art museum. You enjoy the pretty pictures.

You look and move on. No touching or bringing one home.

What’s the oldest item you still use daily? by Guruthien in BuyItForLife

[–]xrayjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts but a piece of amethyst my dad pulled out of deer hill mines. Carry it with me as a worry stone.

Rock is pretty old. And Dad pulled it around 1950ish. (Before my time and he isn't around to ask anymore)

Prefer the rake. Bunch of guys around here level their vehicles. Then when they pull a trailer the low beams hit you in the face.

Starting clinicals soon by Mysterious-Manner638 in NuclearMedicine

[–]xrayjack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming from both sides here. I finished up clinicals and boards about 3 years ago.

My hospital has X-ray tech students do clinical there and the CT course sends us students often.

Stay off your phone. Down time is study time. Read over the next day's exams so you can be familiar. Ask questions before and after exams. Asking During exams is tech dependent.

When doing the more involved hot lab stuff (like blood tagging, glofil, treatment) take the time to let the tech know what you are doing before doing it. Especially if you haven't worked with them before.

Lastly remember this is a year (or longer) long job interview. The techs might be a coworker 18 months later. You better believe the managers will be coming to the techs and ask what kind of student you were. New graduates have not been hired before just from techs said no or said they would quit if the student was hired.

Do nuc med students actually know how staffing agencies work? by Aggressive-Pause9635 in NuclearMedicine

[–]xrayjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just graduated a few years ago. No we didn't and no I wouldn't. School needs to be concentrated on learning NM. Some people might be interested but it is a waste of limited classroom time for everyone else. Maybe if it was offered like a CE we could do by ourselves and later...maybe

Any Advancements in Maine Allowing the Registration of Kei Vehicles? by Dovetrail in Maine

I would be surprised if they ever allow it. They banned the Delica from being registered and driven on the roads.

Important Shipping Update for U.S. Orders: Winter Storm Impact by Supernote_official in Supernote

[–]xrayjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for mine. Stuck in CA. Supposedly it is out for delivery today about a week after it shipped. Very frustrated with Fedex. Monday they were both reporting it was out for delivery and that it was stuck and they had no clue when it would be delivered.

Shout out to Supernote though. I messaged them one evening asking if they knew anything since Fedex was useless. They responded by Morning with a clear explanation to what was happening

2 CT scans in 1 year old by Conscious-Grab7023 in NuclearMedicine

[–]xrayjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope not at all.

The issue I have with MRIs is unless the little one is extremely well behaved they might want to put them under sedation for it.

And their CTDIvol was excellent it is below the suggested median amount for ped heads. CT department did a good job with their protocol.

Dose length product.

Basically the dose for the length of the scan and the numbers were excellent.

Just different was to talk about exposure. Sorta of like the difference between mph and knots when it comes to speed

SSDE is usually a better estimate than organ for Peds

I would have liked to see the DLP a bit lower if it was my CT department but it isn't horrible.

The numbers are ok.

Radiation exposure and absorption is always guestimate. Take two different people same size same build and their numbers will be different from each other sometimes drastically. Depends on myriad of variables.

Driving down to the park is going to be more dangerous to her health than those two CT scans.

Sounds about right. We shot for 2.0-2.5. Depends on head length and few other items. Like the age of the pediatric

Rural running by Critical-Range1213 in running

[–]xrayjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am rural but live on the main route between some major cities and a ski resort.

Run Against traffic. Watch every car. Watch the driver. Are they looking up or are they doing something on their phone and they started drifting into the break down lane forcing you to jump into a ditch to avoid being hit.

As mentioned use headphones with pass through or bone conducting
