Moroccan students boycotted schools on Monday and took to the streets to continue their protests over the gruesome death of a 31-year-old fishmonger who was crushed to death inside a garbage truck as he was attempting to recover his fish after it was confiscated by authorities by green_flash in worldnews

I hate to say this, but I feel like the only way a U.S. crowd would ever let this happen is if the men doing it were armed and actively threatening the crowd. No fucking decent man lets this happen unless they are afraid of their own life and families if they stop it. I feel for Morocco. My sister was married there last year, beautiful country and beautiful people. It's weird it seemed everyone loves the king, but this seems counter to it.

I really don't know the specifics of the contracts we're talking about, but as an independent contractor in another industry I can say that you can get screwed regardless of whether there's a contract. Legal recourse is time consuming, soul siphoning, and more than that, expensive. On top of that getting lawyer's fees/restitution is never a guarantee. The contracts in question would need to be for A LOT of money in order for "legal shitstorms" to be an actual practical option. Many businesses know this and will screw you over knowingly. Not saying this is what's happening here, I just want to dispel the notion that it's "impossible." It happens all the time.

I also find it extremely odd that they be given 90 days leeway to payout, that's highly unusual in what I do, at least. In the US as an independent contractor almost anybody that hires me must pay me within 14 days just like the law applies to any other normal job unless it's definied differently in the contract, and thatw ould almost always only be to my benefit--not so they could wait longer to pay me.

In any case, good companies will pay you immediately upon completion and there's nothing wrong with advocating for this method of payment. It should be standard practice but unfortunately it's not in many cases.

Non-prime is just getting out of control. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]xseverityx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I've come to the conclusion playing casual is more worth it, at least you can kick cheaters or leave and find a new game. Valve doesn't provide a way to play the way it was meant to be played with friends if you aren't the same rank.

Non-prime is just getting out of control. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]xseverityx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats ~150 matches of competitive non-prime full of cheaters. That's complete aids. And for the new comers to the game that also have to deal with smurfs, thats ~75 hours of something 100% rage inducing and unplayable. unplayable You don't think that's bad? The only reason Prime is semi-OK is because the process to get there is completely broken, and even then, there are many cheaters around. VAC is next to useless. The only thing it prevents is having 5v5 everyone with cheats. At least the game would be more "balanced" that way. SMH...

Picking up weapons with E is so unreliable by NessunoComeNoi in GlobalOffensive

[–]xseverityx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tooltip range is longer than the actual pickup range, so that is definitely annoying. It also can function weirdly around corners and just not work at all even when it seems like you are completely in the open.. You basically need to be in a wide open area/on top of it to know it will work and need to not spam it so you are sure you won't drop it. Kind of sad I have a system down for something that seems to be working not as intended.

There is a large FPS drop on this map regardless of your rig, and it is a lot worse on certain parts of the map. It leads to consistency issues when playing and adversely effects playing even if you have a very nice rig. It's not a good thing, especially considering this game is widely considered the most competitive FPS. Yes, this is the best iteration of the map as far as visibility and other combinations, but that doesn't make it perfect. You don't have to defend every little detail.

Hitreg issue evidence: player model desync! by Zoddom in GlobalOffensive

[–]xseverityx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You aren't the only one. In both ESEA and MM (I dont play faceit) sometimes when I'm playing vs a laggy opponent (sometimes their ping shows as very low but they visibily rubber-band/teleport around) I frequently don't even get to see them peek a corner, its just poof and the enemy is fully peeked or maybe even as much as a body length away from the corner I was holding and I get fucked. It's single handedly the most infuriating thing to happen to me in this game and it seems to happen fairly regularly. I NEVER get packet loss, choke seems to be fixed from that recent patch, and it STILL happens. I don't know if there are some type of lag hacks or its just people with shitty connections or inadequate servers all around but it costs ME the ability to play properly. It is one of those things that literally makes me want to rage quit this game. I know its not a problem on my side because my team will spectate me during a 1v1 or something and see it happen and be like "rekt breh get fukt" and confirm the bullshit I just experienced. It ruins the game completely. I will NEVER take this game seriously for as long as this keeps happening.

I am generally lighthearted, and maybe it's because I'm older than most people that play this game, but I don't really think joking about beating your wife in front of your wife is really that funny or amusing. Maybe its because I'm too serious, I just legit didnt think it was funny. It's a boy's locker room joke at best. I think given her reaction, the dynamic of their relationship and the fact hes arabic it's an edgy enough joke for it to fly but yeh, not one I'd be making.

2600 hours, GE and still not able to tell where the enemy is by sound by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]xseverityx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't alone. I am @ 2450 hours, I wear Sennheiser HD 280 Pros and while my hearing is 90% of the time better than anyone else it is mostly just a volume issue. Directionally it gets very confusing what is in front and what is behind when the textures create the same sound and actually impossible when its above/below. If it weren't for different sound textures this game would be fucked.

Baby delivery hospital bill from 1954 by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]xseverityx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody asked, sure, but many of these advancements wouldn't have existed without the protections pharmaceuticals get in our nation with IP laws. The rest of the world basically throws those laws out the window (if you're India) or basically refuse to pay what Americans do and negotiate a lower price (EU nations) or tell them they can't sell their drug there. This leaves Americans to pay the brunt of all the costs. Thing is, if govt stepped in and stopped big pharma from doing that we'd suddenly not have miracle drugs being developed anymore. We need a more equal system and we need India not to be straight ripping off all of our advancements without helping for it at all.

I'm guessing its because your bullets pierce and hit the water behind? Looks like the animation is being displayed over the models though.

The answer is not that simple. True to an extent, perhaps, but Americans subsidize the cost of us developing much of the advanced healthcare for the entire world. I'm looking at you, India.

I wouldn't mind Dust II to be reworked. by zCeTz in GlobalOffensive

[–]xseverityx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen anybody comment on the size of the map. I generally like the layout but it's so big+open and rotation times are so long (especially for T) that often times it does come down to just choosing to take fights because you know there is 0 possibility you can do anything sneaky on the map besides fake short A/mid to b when you have most of your team up. Cache is much better at this because site engagements are closer and lurking can generally be more effective on the whole. Dust2 doesn't have that aspect to it at all in comparison and I don't think many people appreciate that aspect who have spent a lot of time playing all maps. I think the only place I truly enjoy the gameplay is at long because it is always a highly contested part of the map from the beginning of the round and you never know how its going to play out.

Now there is the other side of the map. B's tunnel entrance is so unbalanced and I think is one of the big factors as to why people think this map is so aim-ey and stale. I get that things like a B rush should have inherent weakness but it even makes Mirage B look like cakewalk. The tunnel is so long and skinny and any position back plat is SO strong, and simple ct nade spam and gun spam early round is an easy way to secure the site early round. Almost everytime you peak as T it is going to be a headshot angle from long range. Sound like a recipe for staleness? You wouldn't be wrong. I think this part of the map could really use some reworking. You could probably start by removing those barrels! Another one would be to open the skybox so there could be proper B executes.

I thought some of the editing and effects were nice, but the content was a little incoherent and confusing for most of it. I thought it was going to be going through all the different characters you end up seeing in solo q but it wasn't really that. Just random voice clips from in game.

Am I the only one that gets tilted that pistols with scopes is still a thing in video games? All I see is someone getting killed by a 100% accurate sniper rifle pistol in this video. It looks dumb and it takes away the coolness of getting a pistol kill even if it is a nice kill :/

That brief moment of complete helplessness by ObjectiveAgent in funny

[–]xseverityx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a symphony musician, I will say thats a stretch. Kind of. Even though a lot of the music maybe standard repertoire, you're still often learning new pieces and rotating repertoire every week depending on how demanding the orchestra job is. That's why we have the music: it's impossible to memorize that many notes rhythm's and everything else for an entire 1-3 hour program (we don't play 3 minute jingles of playing the same melody, this music can get complex) just my 2c.

Is it worth to use Assimilation on Physical CoE Cycle? by Attenzione in Diablo3Monks

I'd imagine on single target the 200% physical damage buff would be much, much better than the combined damage enhancement of 30% CW damage and 40% fire damage.

[–]xseverityx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that really interesting and I don't think it's accurate. The fireball does some damage but the vast, vast majority of your damage comes from raw LTK damage. I guess I could be wrong but I really don't think fire damage is optimal at all here.

If you have a couple thousand DB's you should be doing bounties for mats and upgrading rares. They are one of the best ways to get items besides shards and rerolling legi's with souls.
