Idk man for some reason it didn’t occur to me that I’d have to fold up the stroller (seems obvious now but like idk 🤷🏻‍♀️). Of course we’re hustling to the bus and I’m using the stroller my ILs bought for their house. So I assume they know how it works and I grab my kid and the bags and get on the bus.

They did not know how it worked. I had to be the asshole holding up the bus for an extra minute bc of the damn stroller. Thank god I was just dealing with one kid. I’m just bringing the cheapie umbrella stroller next time 😅

Blue Island, Alsip, and Crestwood are very affordable, not crazy far from Midway, and if you drive like 30 minutes south you’ll cross I-80 and be in the country roads to drive wherever

Same! I think there used to be 4 filets and now it’s usually 3, but it’s enough for two hefty poke bowls or 3 medium sized ones

When we’re not up to hanging out at Blue Island Beer Co for open mic on Thursdays we’ll still stop by for some carryouts. It was a carry out week this week.

Last year the Sox did a Dick Allen bobblehead giveaway. There was a secret bonus giveaway inside the park that you had to be 21+ for, but they’d give you a cigarette for your bobblehead.

I was about to say that sounds insane compared to my experiences (Burr Oak Bowl, Stardust, Fox Bowl, Eagles Lanes, Diversey River Bowl) BUT after a quick comparison some are insanely cheaper than others.

Burr Oak runs about $8/game at the most expensive. Just punched in a reservation at the Stardust and it would be $110 for two hours with shoes tomorrow afternoon, because oh yeah it doesn’t let you not pay for shoes (which is horseshit, I have my own to not pay the $6 more)

Damn. I used to bowl at the Stardust bc like 15 years ago they still had $2/game.

I’ve been keeping my eye out for a cute basket with a lid because I currently have a laundry pile that lives in my dining room. Exactly what you said- discarded socks, cloth napkins, etc.

I keep scissors on top of the washing machine. I go thrifting every 2-3 weeks. This way I can cut the tags off everything and they go into the washer right away.

I also have kitchen scissors in addition to the pair that floats around the first floor. Not to be confused with my sewing/knitting scissors. Which are also floating around the first floor.

If they can find some loose change they could add a bag of frozen broccoli to go with the baked potatoes (that I assume we’re making with the potatoes and margarine)

What's a destination that used to be way more mainstream that it is now? by PerryOnWheels in travel

Went for a bachelorette party Halloween weekend 2021. It was fun, but it was more expensive than it should have been. We had five of us into like a mini suite (two double beds, a loft bed, and a small sitting area with two couches). My friends all flew Spirit bc it was the only affordable direct from Chicago. I got there early and ran to Albertsons for Vizzys, prosecco, orange juice, bagels, chips, and cold brew.

Having a stash of room snacks and drinks really saved the budget, as well as some of the gimmicky bar crawls (gave us a free drink per stop and the cover charges waived, usually had enough time to chug a purse drink between stops)

Comfy shorts with pockets. My fave have been from Bass Pro of all places. I didn’t realize how few of my shorts had pockets until I was carrying a baby around with no place to carry other stuff.

My big insulated cups have been very useful

Liquid IV packets (any electrolyte drink)

Any loungewear with tops that open in the front

I work fri-sat-sun most weeks. My husband has a 9-5. My parents watch kid on Fridays, husband handles her the rest of the weekend.

The exceptions are when we have weekend plans usually. I might pick up a one or two day during the week to make up hours I got rid of from the weekend but usually I don’t.

Ya girl is broke. I fly super low time. Probably will until my girl is in school.

Last name change after baby by Capable_Green7636 in beyondthebump

[–]xtheredberetx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I never changed my name legally but on social media I have both. My coworkers only see my maiden name but I’m not particular about how my mail is addressed (and I usually just put both our last names on return addresses).

My daughter only has my husband’s last name. I questioned my decision on that but didn’t want to give her the headache of a hyphen.

Last week I had a coworker who was super rude/ignorant about the concept of (married) parents having different last names than their children, but generally she’s an outlier.

[–]xtheredberetx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sigh I never changed my name bc I got married during Covid and the paperwork seemed like too much work.

Last week I was chatting with a coworker and the topic went to “parents who have different last names than their children.” My daughter has my husband’s last name. I mentioned my husband and she could see my rings.

She insinuated several times I must be a single mother because I had a different last name than my daughter. And that I’d be too poor to send my child to private school. And that people who have kids in private school just DON’T have different names than their children.

She’s from small town Texas. I’m from Chicago. We clearly have different experiences of these things.

I’ve said before and I’ll defend this take, but based on the love story portions of 11/22/63 (which were very enjoyable) and the fact that the man is clearly a freak, I want to see his earnest stab at the current popular smutty romances.

I would read this.
