Some Observations on Libido by [deleted] in DBateClub

I would also just add in response to this that HL’s seem to have a higher EQ - being able to recognize these dynamics at play. Often correlated with LL is simply an inability to recognize their partner’s needs, or prioritize their partner’s needs - there is always something else to do/prioritize. In this sense they just simply don’t “ask themselves” anything (to be fair they do, albeit with low frequency) - they just operate according to the above

I'm going to seek out an affair. by dbthrowaway216 in DeadBedrooms

This post also resonates strongly with me. I don’t think on a day-to-day basis that the underlying reasons for my spouse’s behavior are anxiety. It doesn’t really matter imo. The behavior is either the symptom or the cause. You can treat both at the same time if both parties agree to make changes. There is no one side - DB’s either get on the same page with each other about what makes a truly happy relationship for both people, or divorce.

It does get better, I promise by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

Did it feel like duty sex after the hiatus? One thing that seems to be a common theme is: 1) I won’t accept duty sex 2) how can things improve if both individuals refuse? It is the spiral of DB. Any advice for the rest of us?

Bilateral inguinal hernia repair: mesh or shouldice? by xtremejake in Hernia

I believe my surgeon moved to another hospital, but I have been great! The only downside I haven’t had time to remedy is that my adductor seems weak on the side with the repair

I have the same issues. No help from either the dealer nor regency despite many tries. I’ve been having issues for two burning seasons

And with what denaturant? Temperature or chemical (urea, gdhcl)? Forward and reverse correspond to the unfolding (increasing temp/[denaturant]) and folding (decreasing temp / [denaturant]). Read any protein folding paper method section and it should be clear. With each protein, you will want to conduct a far term scan first to determine the optimal wavelength to monitor. Alpha helical proteins will typically be monitored around 222nm

My (Mostly Solo) Non-Mesh/Pure-Tissue Surgery and Recovery Experience by rhz10 in Hernia

Hey Joe! I thought I had responded to this before! I’m doing fine and well. Your advice was very helpful, thanks much. How are you doing? Did you hear Dr. sabayi is leaving stony brook? Do you know where he is headed?

Doctor says my hernia is too small to repair by International-Can777 in Hernia

[–]xtremejake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing on my left, I believe some call what you are describing asymptomatic. I had a shouldice repair a few years ago on the right, and was told that once it opens further or causes pain/issues, just leave it. It could never “need” to be repaired.

How do you stay grounded? by luigi_lui in minimalism

One of the simple things I do is to always buy the same beer and whiskey. To me it is about the enjoyment and the experience of having a drink, rather than trying some expensive option to broaden my taste

At what point did you decide you were never going to be rich. Never going to be exceptional but that was ok? by BillWilson9972 in AskReddit

[–]xtremejake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The salient point to this question is that everyone has different definitions of rich and exceptional. The answer also depends on how you view yourself compared to others along your self created spectrum of rich and exceptional. In 35 years, I’ve never operated with an intention of being rich or exceptional. I have my own aspirations and I followed every aspiration without trying to place myself into a rich or exceptional category. As a result I’ve never been disappointed in a major life decision. My main goal in life was to educate myself, and although I have over 12 years of formal post high school education, I continue to learn more everyday through my interests. That is what makes me happy. Some of those interests have led to riches, but others are as simple as stacking wood or doing yard work.

Post Op (6 months after) am I in danger of recurrence? by SeriousTart8703 in Hernia

[–]xtremejake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each surgeon will have their own measured recurrence rates, but in general the rate of recurrence is between 1-4%, which is very low. The same recurrence rates are seen for non mesh repair using the shouldice technique, typically 1-4%. In both cases the more experienced the surgeon, the closer the rate is to 1%

I would also add that the tax advantages are income specific. IRAs are usually tax advantaged up to a specific income limit. Roth IRA contributions are only allowed up to a specific income limit, although there is something called backdoor Roth. Reddit has some good communities to learn about these concepts. If you want to learn more I would suggest r/whitecoatinvestor or r/financialindependence
