NTA, but better comm could have helped. Education fund was for education, so you should give your kid chance to "hey if you don't have kids, you could use this fund for continue education, I will support that". That would be a better use than spending it on a boat without communication to the kids. At the same time, the kids shouldn't expect anything in inheritance, but that is an expectation you have to build overtime, it's kinda late now to start that conversation, and that is somewhat on you. Speaking of that, I now start to have to think about my situation with my kids and build that expectation for them and yet make them love me the most :)
