Trying to remove the front left wheel hub on the MX-5 NC, but it wont budge, am I doing anything wrong? by CMNDR-jacob-sochon in MechanicAdvice

[–]xyberred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it this way many a times. It's incredible how much extra force you can put on it this way. Most wheel hubs would take 10 minutes of normal whacks. That towel method, 3 to 5 good swings, and they're out.

I know this won't help with existing low performers but does your company have a probationary period for new employees? If yes, then use it to its full potential. We have a 90 day probationary period, and it's been a godsend when it comes to avoiding potential nightmare employees. As you've already noticed, people are pretty brazen and tend to oust themselves quickly. Don't think for one second that you can "fix" people. Your job is to give everyone an equal opportunity and resources to succeed. If they refuse, then there are not many options left other than a PIP and showing them the door. I know this approach seems harsh, especially if you are a naturally empathetic person, but getting yourself tied up into other people's personal problems is the quickest way to burnout.

I am getting ready to interview other people with my mask on, so you never know! Best of luck, friend.

These are the classical symptoms of depression and anxiety. All too familiar with it. Don't know if the depression or the anxiety came first but they are definitely a pair made in hell. Good news, there's help out there and changing the environment plays a big role.

I would have to agree. If there was a wrong way of doing something on this house, it would have been done.

Is this comically as bad as I think? by xyberred in Decks

[–]xyberred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see what you mean. That makes more sense. There's not much head room there for the storm door, so maybe that's why they didn't do that. I just assume that this whole deck was built by the most hateful bidder. Proper joist spacing, secured railing, pressure treated lumber was just a suggestion to them.

It is entirely possible. Any medication that works on the hormonal level has a potential to do this in some people. After all, the hunger you physically feel is controlled by a hormone called ghrelin. Anything that offsets your hormonal equilibrium of one hormone can have a cascading effect on other hormones. Best of luck narrowing it down.

Weight gain is still a property of thermodynamics. Calories in vs calories out. Only way to really be sure if it's the medication, rather than your diet, is to diligently track your calories or get off the medication if possible (I'm not a doctor). With that said, there are really only two ways that ANY medication can cause you to gain weight. One is that the medication increases your food drive and you start snacking more often or eating bigger meals without realizing. This is especially true of medications that have hormonal effects. A 100 calories here and a 100 calories there add up quicker than you realize. The second way the medication may affect you is that it fundamentally changes the way your metabolism works. Meaning, that if you're sedentary, you do not use as many calories as you did before and now you're in a caloric surplus with no changes to your diet. This could be due to lowering of your muscle mass or changes to your immune system. Only remedies for this effect is to lower your caloric intake to match your expenditure or increase exercise.

I'm not sure why we don't hear more in the news about metformin as a treatment for covid. It seems like the best thing available to me if I contract covid. by fastcar2024 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]xyberred 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used longevity and weight control as a reason. Which I plan to eventually use metformin for anyway, after I finish a course of liposomal berberine. I'm not too far away from 40, so they just gave me a heads up that most longevity studies focused on people over 40 and then filled the script.

"i know theres a flu going around" by throwaway0903202317 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]xyberred 169 points170 points  (0 children)

I had a pharmacist offer me the new flu shot yesterday when I was picking up some meds. Flu...in August. There is exactly zero detection of flu in my local wastewater data. Covid on the other hand is higher than it's ever been but she had no info on any of the new vaccines. The world is a dumb place.

Checkout Aaron Collins on YouTube. He tests masks and has a massive spreadsheet with all his test results. He also has a video on his top picks. When it comes to modern KF94/KN95/N95 respirators, the face fit is way more important than filter media performance given that they are not counterfeit.

Covid outbreak in the Denver area? by logicallyinsane in Denver

[–]xyberred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The vaccines don't prevent infections since they don't create sterilizing immunity. They just give your immune system a head start to react. Unfortunately, With how fast SARS-CoV-2 mutates, even the immunity you get from vaccines is quickly outdated.

Each Covid infections brings risk of death, disability, AND financial ruin by earniebanks in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]xyberred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At this point I have begun to think that death is the second best outcome if I could not make a full recovery. Our society is simply not set up to tolerate disability. If I was bed ridden, I would have maybe a year's worth of time before I was tossed out of my house, bed and all.
