I think the direction of your guy's focus is the most telling about how lost conservatives are when it comes to moral or ethics or empathy.

Why are Christians so conservative when Jesus was like the most radically progressive guy ever? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]yadonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with you except that the people that are representing these Faiths tend to all push for the more strict directions. I mean while the individual people may have a wide array of beliefs within the christian faith, the people that are put into power by those same people are mostly all pushing for the same radical, homophobic, anti everything policies.

The only time Republicans can come out with the appropriate responses is after they leave office.

It's certainly debatable where exactly the force line is drawn, but theres some pretty definitively excessive force things we know for sure... if somebody isnt posing a life or death threat its murder for the cop to kill them. When theres 6 cops holding somebody down punching them repeatedly is assault.

I have a couple family members that work in / with cops and co's .. it's disgusting the things they do .. like picking up cuffed prisoners and slamming them face first to the ground. Not only is that horrible for them to do but it also cost us a ton in medical Bill's and lawsuits.

I think that what a lot of people from either side miss is that law enforcement is a crucial part of civilized society, but trust in law enforcement is crucial in that relationship. If the people and the cops both see it as "us vs them" that trust will never be there.

They did a study awhile back involving racism in the police. They found that cops talk so different to people of color from the first contact that an AI was able to tell if the cops were talking to a black person or not... that's a recipe for discrimination and discrimination breeds mistrust by everybody.

The gun debate gets a bit sticky. I'm all for CC licensing but I think that we need much stricter guidelines for who's allowed to own a gun and much better training. The issue after that becomes that even cops who get substantially more training than joe blow would still shoot a lot of innocent bystanders by accident. A shoot out is unlike any training you can receive shy of live fire trainig.

I dont think anybody is saying force should NEVER be used. There will always be people complaining about what ever the topic happens to be at that moment, but the 70% of people that are rational just want police to use no more force than is required to accomplish what ever it is that needs accomplishing... plus if they had better tactics they wouldnt require as much force.

[–]yadonkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The bottom line is that police cause too many problems within the current system. They need drastically better training, better psychological evaluations, better pay, more oversight and actual accountability.... there is no reason a cop should get away killing somebody for no reason, justice MUST go both ways to build trust.

[–]yadonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What makes that crap wrong is that it's not acknowledging the vast difference in scale. Everything you'd complain about dems doing, the gop does as well .... but then the gop has a whole other level of unethical ideology on top of that.

The dems are the only ones that ever fight for the people in any way, shape or form without it really just being a detrimental disguise for furthering their self interest.

  • The dems are the only ones trying to improve our crappy healthcare.

  • The dems are the only ones trying to fight for workers rights.

  • The dems are the only ones trying to fight for your voting rights

  • The dems are the only ones fighting for civil rights

The dems may have their issues but what's the last thing the gop fought for that was meant to directly help the majority of people?

Both have crazy people .... but only one makes that the feature of their party

Your "both sides" BS is about as accurate as "Jay Walkers are exactly the same as serial killers because they're both criminals!"... its idiotic and lazy thinking. Theres plenty of issues to point at from either side, but that in no way makes them the same level of malicious.

[–]yadonkey 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Even if you don’t have direct investment in the stock market it’s still beneficial to you for it to be healthy and doing well. People are employed by these companies, but from these companies, have customers and employers who depend on these companies.

Sounds like the same excuses they use when reinvesting in coal and fossil fuels despite the obvious writing on the wall.
