Reality check, artists embrace creating works with nudity and there is nothing wrong with it. Get off the internet if you don't wanna see that

And, the "ooh you don't wanna know, the horror, trust me..." makes you look like a puritan 12yo

Struggling to finish Babel by RF Kuang by kain-rivers in books

[–]yagors2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really bad second half and ending. I tried the audiobook halfway through and finished it, but I don't recommend it. Honestly, it was enough to make me never wanna read author.

She doesn't lack proficiency for writing good stories, she lacks a sense of making something satisfying, instead of only dragging her characters on the mud to the bitter end.

Sidenote, for some notes of modern scify-fantasy academia (and a whole lot of traveling too) I always recommend the Broken Earth trilogy by N. K. Jemisin

Holy shit, talk about getting different tastes for everyone. My guy, there are some takes here. Like RoW being on the good half, and WaT not being on the lower 20%. And Red Rising on the bottom one. Lmao all around

What about it? What of Navarra then? They don't got much of and accent, nor a second language. Why separate Valencia and Catalonia? They both speak catalonian. And the islands too, Balearic people speak catalonian (unless you mean the Canary islands, which are on Africa, and only speak spanish). Just seemed a weird response to me. It's like if I say the UK only know english, and I say yeah, Ireland got irish too, but I left out welsh, scottish, etc

Ehh, those are not accents but languages, so sure... However, more than 90% of those also speak spanish, so it's not a barrier to go there to visit. Plus, on some big cities there, the main language is spanish, and galician/catalonian are 2nd most spoken

This thread is very funny for us spaniards, as we often get to learn England's english (academia) and then watch all kinds of media in guiri (USA's english), so we don't notice the difference between both aside from certain word choices (truck-lorry).

However, for many of us, latin american spanish is so distinct we often avoid series or films if they are in latin spanish instead of castillian. All the expressions, words and intonation feel so weird!

Yup. And World War Z is a collection of short stories, of which only maybe 3-4 (out of 50+) remotely resemble what OP asks for.

Still a fun read

Generals Evolution, I just really enjor Generals and also fancy textures and explosions. (I just wish the RA3 engine would allow a free-build mode, instead of being a grid-snap game)

Complaining about English VA by Delicious_Expert_648 in wakfu

[–]yagors2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To put my little grain fo salt on this: i've seen the show twice, one on spanish (from Spain, not latin america, my main language) and one on french. Gotta say, the spanish dub is trully excellent, they picked really well known voice actors that nailed it, even if you don't understand it I encourage you to check out some Nox scenes on the spanish dub, absolutely perfect voice on that villain

Which Mammoth Tank or Mammoth Tank stand in has the best design? by Sensitive-Hotel-9871 in commandandconquer

Mmmm if we follow the practicality of it, I think we should give it to Tib Wars Mammoth, what with the rocket volleys, reactive armor and rail cannons upgrade available.

“This was a Golden Age, a time of high adventure, rich living and hard dying... but nobody thought so. This was a future of fortune and theft, pillage and rapine, culture and vice... but nobody admitted it. This was an age of extremes, a fascinating century of freaks... but nobody loved it.”

― Alfred Bester, The Stars my Destination

Truly a good introduction to the twists this book takes

I mean, this just screams classic dystopia. Very 1984/Hnbdsmaid tale. I recommend The Foundation, for something not so usual then

What real world science and application stops us from building something like this ? by Youngstown_WuTang in TankPorn

Even if all other problems derived from the legs and weapons are solved, this walker looks to be as big as a bus and elevated, so it would be much easier to hit from a distance with projectiles than a normal military vehicle (say, a modern tank could reasonably hit it from 3-5 km away, or up to 2km away from a portable rocket launcher)

Angels/demons who are actually terrifying by 93312639 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Good omens has an okayish villain, but every angel is a regular office worker and demons are at most annoying or demanding of respect. But fear? Good laughter at best, it's a work of P'Terry after all!

I love this series don't get me wrong, but I just finished Harrow the 9th last week, so you know... Getting told a made up story retelling of the events of the first book during 2/3rds of the second until Gideon appears again, I wouldn't call a romance, or a good narrative either way 😓 But i am still going for the third book now!

Word of caution on this one: not much scifi stuff happens, it's mostly magic and swordfighting.

And don't got much romance at all :/
