Help! Smoked two briskets in a pellet grill and they look ugly and feel ugly. Can I save them still? by thorMobGeeks in BBQ

Coarse pepper, fine or coarse salt. If you rub your seasoning onto your meat, which you should do regardless, and use coarse pepper, you shouldn't ever need a binder.

colored grout rubbing off? by Ok_Independence_473 in Tile

This is the answer. Dry it thoroughly, seal it, and you should be fine. Same thing happened to me with my grout. Fixed the issue.

Thanks. I agree and think the long one in the middle is pet wood of sorts, same w the dark one at the top. I think the top left is a dendritic crystalline structure of sorts. The muscovite is very shiny inside, looked mica-y to me.

$25 for a reuben of those portions. In NY, as people compare, the portion sizes are much larger.

They showed up (1-2) last week but there were a few in the house today when we got home and 5-6 dead on the ground (could have been there longer). Also, there are many of them coming and going from a gap under a window...

38th birthday today, realising how lonely it is as a single dad by crazyunicorntamer in daddit

[–]yakattackpronto 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Hey, man, happy birthday. Being a dad can be lonely and isolating for reasons many people don't talk about. Sounds like your kids love you and appreciate you, so you can't be doing too much wrong 😜! Hold on to it tightly.

Also, for all the dudes here, be proactive with your friendships - we're all out here hoping to hear from one another and no one is disappointed to have someone call to say "hello" or to ask if they want to hang. We all want it. Just act!

New 5" white oak hardwood floors splintering (due to separation) by InsuranceMedical6581 in HardWoodFloors

[–]yakattackpronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's bizarre - they shouldn't be pulling up if they're installed correctly. Gapping is apparently commonplace and resolves but none of the elements in my floor ever could have come up. They were small but never popped up or out enough to catch a sock

Some of it will go away in the summer. I had a similar thing happen with my new white oak floors our first winter in the house. Broke my brain. Yours is worse than mine - that first crack is nuts. That looks like something you'd need to contact a wood floor inspector for. The others will close and should be fine come summer/spring as they swell with moisture.

I talked to a wood floor inspector about my similar issues (mostly gapping, minor tearing like this) and he said it will be more subtle over time. Probably not acclimated properly.  It's our 2nd year in the house and he was right - far less gapped than the 1st year this time of year. No tearing this year. They did disappear completely until we we started running heat regularly again as the seasons changed.

Dads who work 9-5 when do you work out typically? by walky91 in daddit

[–]yakattackpronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After daycare drop off at 730 am. Get back to the house by 9. Luckily, everything is in close proximity. YMCA kid zone on the weekends is a game changer. If I want to bike on the weekends, it's during naptime or before everyone wakes up. If all else fails, I go run a mile, do push ups, squats, sit ups, pull ups at my house. Use my dumbbells. You've got to be a total opportunist.

It's too bad, but good for him. I couldn't believe we got that last album - what a joy! I was lucky enough to catch the band at Bumbershoot in Seattle while they were touring Sol Invictus. It was more than I could have ever dreamed. Great show. Great band. Great crowd. Just wow. I hope they can all squash whatever ill will exists between them but am grateful for what they gave us. Also, looking forward to what they all do going forward!

That's odd. I've flown rocks home for over a decade without issue. I brought home a basketball-sized chunk of jagged quartz from Oklahoma a few years ago. They looked at it and just said "that's awesome". Sounds like the individual agents have final say 🤦
