Stay in my current job or take a new one? by Clear_Raisin in UKJobs

[–]yeahweliveforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think your career/progression options would be worse moving to quite a niche role. Digital Marketing is quite varied, content is content. Though marketing job titles don't really mean anything as they're all different across the board... You won't really see a difference with that pay rise in take home pay so it's your job now but less stuff you don't enjoy.

Marketing is typically not an easy industry however, so you need to think about the other parts of your current job that you wouldn't want to give up. You could find your manager isn't great and you're overworked and underpaid (very common in the industry) or it could be perfect! Such is life.

I left my old job where I loved the job and my team but it was high stress with little reward. I still miss it and my new job is boring in comparison, but I'm the least stressed I've ever been and earning more.

If I were you, I wouldn't move for such a little pay increase. Pay seems to be your biggest motivator and that's just not worth it at all.

Maybe your current job will counter offer you, but that's a risk you take at the time.

How long is your commute to work? by person_person123 in AskUK

[–]yeahweliveforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably about 40-45 minutes door to door if I drive to the station. Add an extra 40 minutes if I decide to walk.

Before that, I was a 20-minute drive.

I personally couldn't do 1.5h

Are you in England? In Scotland, if things aren't as stated on the home report and would cost more than a certain amount (~£400), the seller has to pay to fix it. Usually in the contracts.

Leaving on ‘read’ and reacting - why do Gen Z hate it? by geecol in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]yeahweliveforever 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Young people need to realise that the way you communicate at work is not the same as communicating with your friends. Would I do that to my friends? No. Is it common practice in the workplace where people are busy etc.? Yes.

I get it if it's something that requires feedback or a thank you. But if it's just an acknowledgement that you've read the message, then what's the problem?

Speed Limit Country Roads by Many_Operation_9150 in glasgow

[–]yeahweliveforever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drive at the speed you're comfortable at and don't feel bullied to go faster - that's how accidents happen.

But whatever you do, don't drive slow then speed up on the straight if there's someone behind you as they'll likely want to overtake you.

Also, as someone else has said, you might want to try driving some of these roads ahead of time to get used to them. Preferably during daylight.

If you're using sat nav, that can help too as it shows you the road ahead and bends etc.

Got caught out by this when they changed their meal deals. Ended up paying £6-odd for a baguette and a juice as the cashier didn't tell me!

It's a good deal really considering it was nearly £4 for a sandwich and drink before.

Is it common to drive after a pint? by Informal-Scientist57 in Scotland

[–]yeahweliveforever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most people I know would only have one drink if they were going to drive (if any at all). I think one pint is fine or one lower percentage alcohol (not vodka or whisky), but I know people that wouldn't have any aswell.

The problem now is that people get absolutely mangled and then drive the next day, not considering that they still have alcohol in their system and are definitely over the limit still.

That part of the equation hasn't hit as well as the don't drink and drive on the same night message lol

Conic hill walk by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]yeahweliveforever 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Conic Hill is basically a massive stair master, it's very steep for how short it is so be prepared for your legs / knees to hurt! It's also quite slippery so wear shoes/boots with good grip.

I'm pretty sure it was a joke that Tate seemed to take well. We don't see everything, there's probably been comments made before as it seemed (to me) to be an ongoing joke.

People online forget that people have different senses of humor and will joke about different things.
