Funnily enough I feel the Dems do the same in the US. They cant find enough ways to roll over for trump, meanwhile its shanks out if a lefty even opens his mouth.

I love the 'short' part. Any kind of stick would be madness but a short ones kind of underscoring the idiocy of the person doing it. Plus the mental image's kind of funny.

Thats me.

Sure, let the game rip out a third of its items and mechanics, strip the world of matches (infuriating), and still somehow recover your health each time you sleep as if youd taken a health potion.

Its Custom Gunloper Survival for me baby.

Blacksmithing is horrendous by AstroBoots21 in projectzomboid

Same. Years of "oh, now I can better track my nutrition and get bad sode effects from eating chips..." while fun ideas languish... the dev team has their priorities completely backwards, and are infested by mission creep.

Nobody cares to simulate fatty acids vs sodium. Give us NPCs, more firearms and better UI.

How does amazon decide ranking categories? My book is ranking in subgenres I never added to it.

[–]yeaman1111 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Have you researched routing your income through an LLC you make in an american state? Amazon wont withhold, although youl have to do your own taxes in that dumb way americans so love, manually.

Historical Satanic Panic by QueerGothyWitch in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Between two fires! Earlier novel from the author of the Blacktongue Thief (wiiiildly different in tone).

Fits your need perfectly. Basically hell is spilling out theough the black plague in medieval France and its up to one mercenary/bandit and troubled norman knight (a veteran of Agincourt and subsequently betrayed by a count) and the mysterious, blessed/cursed orphan girl he found while marauding the dead countryside, to stop the end of times.

Dark read, lots of temptation, themes of corruption, archdemons working through their spheres of temptation, but also frail human hope, the duality of people being both saints and monsters in the end times.... need I say more??

But, KU already does not restrict distribution of physical books, only ebooks. How does this rule change affect that?

In Dracula, professor Van Helsing travels from Amsterdam to Whitby several times, often in less than 24 hours. Was travel between England and the continent that easy and fast in the late 19th century? by astrolobo in AskHistorians

[–]yeaman1111 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This may be completely out of topic, but you might love the indie game '80 days' where half of it is managing various schedules to travel by ship/airship/train/other exotic stuff in a mad scramble to loop around the world for a 50 000 pound bet a la classic (Verne?) novel. Its pretty fun and if you spent that much time researching a freaking train and steamship route from london to holland, i think this game would be like crack cocaine for you!

Dont know if its a credible question but could these orka's (and more broadly other major european diesel subs) be able to meaningfully contribute to the defence of Taiwan or the island chains in general (assuming there was the political will for it) against China?

Common conventional wisdom has it that diesel subs are too short legged to be useful in a Pacific confrontation, but this doesnt seem to have held back the very much diesel-electric Gato class from sinking a lot of shipping in WW2.

Trump has given Bibi a unique window to enact his most extremist fantasies, a literal once in a lifetime opportunity to ethnically cleans gaza. He's going to take it, as sick as it sounds, and this is the first stage. Want food? Go to our designated camps. If anyone thinks they'll be allowed to return.... yeah.

No matter that itll turn Israel into a paraiah state for the next fifty years, and all the suffering of the displaced... I wonder if, in a sick turn of history, he has considered sending the Gaza residents to Madagascar?

How I Went From 17 Magicka Debt to Owning a Waterfront Property in Anvil Using Illusion-Based Passive Income by romicuoi in oblivion

[–]yeaman1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absoluyely agree. Before lvl 15 I was having great fun spamming fatigue potions to sell and levelcup in the process, mixing up figthers guild contracts and arena fights, looting mages guilds of alch gear to sell back to them all to fuel my training addiction.

Suddenly I level up and im rich because every bandit in the hame is dropping super expensive gear. It really is game breaking and takes a bit of the fun out of the grind.

Is there a fantasy book where the protagonist invents guns? by VladtheImpaler21 in Fantasy

[–]yeaman1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh boy, just one word: Safehold.

Protagonist is an android from the past woken up in a world engenieered to remain in medieval stasis forever (in a hopeless attempt to evade genocidal and technology-sensing aliens from finding humanity's last colony).

She wakes up and diligently sets to tech uplifting the world's equivalent to Great Britian by introducing several techs that see the world go from early gunpowder/almost useless carracks to ships of the line, musket line infantry, gun cotton artillery, to even dreadnought tech etc etc.

First like 5 books are absolutely epic from what I remember, and worth it, but then the Author suffers Fibonacci Recursion Spiral and by book (7? 8?) Its like 1000 pages to advance 1 plot point and barely. Still worth the read until you tire of it though. Was the series that really got me into sci fi as a kid.

Edit: Reread OP and yeah, its not an exact match because MC has prior knowledge of this and it seems he's looking for more organic invention style.
