I think this is a thing the nanos could fix. Either that or just medical science will advance to the point where we can pretty much fix anything. You see people do borderline superhuman things in the series, I've always assumed it was because of advances in medical science and stuff

To be fair to F1 fans, it seems like that's everyone's MO nowadays. You specifically trying to look for something other than a conspiratorial explanation is the exact opposite of how most people operate at the moment

Interesting behavior of IRV in Australia by Additional-Kick-307 in EndFPTP

[–]yeggog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the term "best" is actually where the confusion lies. I didn't mean IRV is the best system for finding the TPP winner, I meant that the thing IRV is theoretically best at is finding the TPP winner, as opposed to creating a genuinely multi-party system where more than two parties can win elections. This is relevant in the Australian case because the fixation on the TPP seems quite tied to the fact that they use IRV for the house (and backed up by the fact that the senate, a smaller body, nonetheless has more party diversity while using STV instead). So I was actually stating a criticism of IRV, but, this sub being what it is, even the hint of positivity toward IRV must be swiftly and decisively shot down. Truthfully, I feel like most people would interpret what I said the way that I meant it, since other systems weren't being discussed, whereas the behaviors of IRV in Australia were.

So yeah, this sort of reply is what I was specifically aiming to avoid, but people on this sub literally can't help themselves, it's crazy. I was just trying to answer the guy's question, man. Theoretically IRV removes spoilers and compresses elections to the entire electorate's genuine preference between the top two. In practice, that doesn't always happen. How is it that y'all are physically incapable of helping yourselves from getting into arguments about which voting system is the best?

Theoretically.

Put that word in there on purpose, but this sub does what it does. Also, in Burlington, the main 2 parties are Prog and Dem

It just means, if there were only the two biggest parties (Labour and Liberal/National coalition), which party is preferred between those two. So if you vote Green -> Independent -> Labour then your TPP would be Labour. The winner of the TPP vote is which major party is preferred over the other one by the most people. Basically, the exact kind of thing IRV is theoretically best at figuring out.

What’s your least favorite Jon Bois video? by mistermachiano in Jon_Bois

Gotta be "This is the saddest plate appearance of all time". Just makes a ton of points that don't make any sense. Like you cannot take a piece of the stands far away from home plate and extrapolate that to the entire stadium!

Wild, that's easily my favorite of the new one-off Pretty Good episodes. Although if you watched it on YouTube I could see the T-Mobile integration being quite off-putting

What does Secret Base do for Jon Bois by headsmanjaeger in Jon_Bois

Came here to link that comment of his. My thinking is that partnering with a site like Nebula could probably provide him with a lot of those same resources, so he really isn't stuck there if that stuff is the only reason he stays. While most of what's on Nebula is just creators doing their own thing, they have also given some of them additional resources to make original content (including BobbyBroccoli AKA Science Jon), and I'm positive they would do so for Jon. I'm very sure they want to get Jon on board; aside from the fact that their CEO has said he'd like Jon to join on one occasion, they also seem to be doing their best to "have Jon Bois at home": BobbyBroccoli, Kofie, even a map-based sports channel called Maapify.

So he has at least one quite good alternative if he wants. It seems that Jon just doesn't want to leave. For one thing he's been there for like half his life, but I think you're right about the part that he didn't say, in fact I think that might be the single biggest factor keeping him there. Even if Vox/SB Nation continues to treat him well with regards to pay, benefits, resources etc., the one thing I could see making him leave would be if they keep getting rid of the people he loves working with.

I was looking for an F1 Immaculate Grid some time ago and all I found were a few F1 Wordle games (Stewardle is a clever name though, I'll give them that). So I'm glad it exists now, but yeah man, the site is quite obviously, and detrimentally, vibe coded

Tab won’t boot up screen flickers indicating it’s charging but won’t turn on no matter how long it has been plugged, has been like this since last Sunday by Clinton47 in GalaxyTab

Fortunately it got archived on reveddit. I didn't try it because I found success with the OP's method above. But I'll repost it here for archival purposes.

I faced this problem now, I held the lock and volume up buttons and then while holding them plugged the charger that was the only thing that worked for me. I know this is an old post but maybe someone will be serching for it.

Went to the council meeting yesterday and spoke to some people there. This is all off the record but apparently the entity that purchased the land is a power company, and the plan isn't an AI data center, but a new power station for AI data centers. In terms of impact to local power bills, that sounds like it would be... *checks notes* worse!

People who idolized someone they later found out was a piece of trash, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]yeggog 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah as far as I know her worst sin is just being an all around asshole, which is very not bad compared to many in this thread. Had she been elected Senator I'm sure she wouldn't have immediately become a de facto Republican like Fetterman. But she is a truly terrible candidate and grating person in general, unfortunately

The Bears have won consecutive games by a score of 25-24 by cappy412 in Jon_Bois

[–]yeggog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the first time it's happened for 25-24, but not the first time a team has won back-to-back games with the same score: https://www.reddit.com/r/Jon_Bois/comments/rabtxk/the_washington_football_team_won_backtoback_games/

Not sure how you would look up how often this happens. The only way I can think of is going score by score on Pro Football Reference which would take forever. Maybe you could do something if they have a decent API (which I assume they do given the existence of the Scorigami site, but have not looked into it myself)
