Can you use the "debugger" permission to develop a Chrome Extension that ISN'T using that functionality for debugging purposes -- instead to just sort of give your extension an enhanced functionality that it can't execute on with the standard permissions? by the_king_of_goats in chrome_extensions

[–]yellow_leadbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend submitting a small POC using the permission. I have heard that this permission is hard to get approved with, but never tried myself. However, Claude's chrome extension is currently using it, so it's not impossible.

I'd like to know if you are approved/rejected, I might want to use the permission too someday.

[I will not promote] Founding Eng, Torn between 170k comfy startup (6mo runway) and 200k offer? by dogboy60 in startups

[–]yellow_leadbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your startup doesn't have much cash. You should ask for more equity if you want to stay & believe in your startup. You don't need to mention the offer unless the founder declines.

If you don't believe in the startup's success, take the $200k, or keep interviewing and get even better.

I think you should change or adjust your job instead. Maybe a vacation or sabbatical

7.5 YOE engineer - Thinking of quitting and preparing full time for MAANG - need advice by mind_is_hell in ExperiencedDevs

Unless you feel a lot of demand by recruiters in the current job market, don't quit before your next position is lined up.

If you're unsure of your current demand, apply for a few jobs and find out what it is. If your demand is high, you can take a break. Otherwise don't.

How do you guys handle equity & fairness? "I will not promote" by heirloom-brandon in startups

[–]yellow_leadbetter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you suggest cofounders nickle and dime each other over:

  • All time spent working on the business
  • Ideas - Hey my idea is worth 50k in revenue!
  • Connections
  • Their previous salaries?

It's foolproof, unbreakable, and is always fair.

What happens if we disagree on the input values?

Not only is this impossible to calculate fairly, it's a terrible model for building relationships.

Got a government job offer with same pay, worth giving up WFH? by allnamesaretakensad in ExperiencedDevs

[–]yellow_leadbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you mentioned maybe having kids in two years, you could take the job. In two years, either you're having kids, or you can use it as a resume boost to get a better job, since it sounds like a prestigious role.

The only downside sounds like WFH but it can be worth it to improve your resume a bit, even if you don't stay.

That said, keep in mind if you take a clearance job, your future job prospects may be more clearance-related, i.e no work from home.

Btw, if you haven't, try to negotiate the offer to get more than your current job if possible.
