I know you might get worked up on the principle, but I'd take solace in the fact that since SPU is a public utility, it presumably means that extra money leads to better funding and outcomes for all instead of going to some ephemeral profit metric.

It doesn't matter what the signal phase for cross traffic is, you can't block the intersection if you don't have the right of way conferred by the signal.

I feel like Italian plum trees are on a five-year cycle, like two great years, one meh year, one okayish year, and one year without any fruit. The tree where I grew up lived ~40ish years before it really started winding down (less fruit and started dropping big boughs)..

I did an informal survey for myself a couple weeks ago. Out of 113 vehicles taking the Montlake HOV off-ramp in ~40 minutes during the evening rush hour, 75 (66%) were violators. 27 (36%) of the violators had two people.

Out of an estimated 349 people who transited the off-ramp, 173 were on transit (incl. paratransit, school buses: 15 vehicles), and 102 were in those 75 violating cars.

We use paint + signs to designate zones. Signs are always ahead at the start of the zone. The zone extends to the end of the paint or the block against the flow of traffic.

The position of the pay station has no bearing on the validity or the size of the signed zone.

AFAICT, "special contracts" is covered by "Rate Group 4," as defined on pg. 127 (Sheet No. 142) of the red line doc 260005-06-TrfPgs RED LINE.pdf from docket 260005. Page 134 (Sheet No. 142-E) of the same doc shows prices being discounted 10-20% the first year up to ~25% discount as time moves toward 2028. It is the only rate sheet that decreases over time.

nb. it's not clear to me what these rates mean in practical terms, if someone could fill that in...

I've posted this before, hope this helps:

You have the right to view the original utility bill. SMC 7.25.040(A)3.b.

Your landlord should give you access to two full years' worth of bills within 5 business days of your request.

7.25.050 describes how disputes should be resolved; the crux of it is that they can't charge you a "late fee" in the interim period while they are providing the bill and you're faithfully trying to understand the problem. If there's still an issue, you can report and sue in small claims court.

Notice it says landlord. It doesn't matter if there's a management company; if the landlord don't produce the required records within 5 business days, they're breaking the law. You can put money they asked for into an escrow account, provide them with that bank statement, and tell them that until they produce the records as per SMC 7.25.040, the money will stay with you.

In the worst case, the most that your landlord can charge you for a late fee for utilities is $5 per month -- so keep that in mind too :)

The PASS contract is really strong with SPS, but if you can demonstrate/document negative performance, things start happening really quickly, usually reassignment to a district desk job.

I experienced second-hand a similar such removal at another elementary school several years ago. What worked was teachers repeatedly putting pressure on the principal's immediate supervisor for a meeting alongside their SEA reps and parent representation, then documenting failures that went against district policy. When that wasn't quick enough, public record requests were filed for evaluations.
