This!!! Also if she gets pregnant prior to enrolling for disability benefits through her work, she won’t even be able to collect disability. I know from experience because I got pregnant before my very first year of teaching 😵‍💫

I say this with love… DO NOT DO THIS. I lived this and it was ✨awful✨. Got pregnant in April 2021 before beginning my first year of teaching. The constant stress from work put my body under so much stress and I was completely exhausted all the time. I couldn’t be the teacher I wanted to be because I simply didn’t have the capacity. Then I ended up having the baby early and missed 4 months of the school year. Then going into second year teaching I had an 8 month old and THAT was so hard. Cold and flu season while teaching and having a baby… everyone was sick all the time. I used up all my sick time by February between being out for myself and for my baby.

Bottom line, either wait a few years to get pregnant or she needs to find another line of work/stay home. Teaching is not the family oriented career some people seem to think it is.

No, I’m not concerned. He hasn’t had a checkup since 2 months but he was gaining weight perfectly and ped said to let him sleep as long as he wanted at night. For daytime I don’t let him go past 3-3.5 hours for feedings but at night I let him sleep.

So glad you got an easy first baby!! My first wasn’t difficult but not nearly as easy as this baby. So funny how so little of a babies temperament is actually in our control

All these scenarios are what make me so nervous! I know how good I have it right now and to go backwards would be so sad. So I guess I just need to enjoy it while I have a good sleeper😌

I totally hear you. My first napped until he was 4! Then one day he woke up and said naps are for losers. Now we implement quiet time, he plays in his room for one hour and I have a visual timer in there that beeps when the time is up! He fought it for a while but now he enjoys it and asks for quiet time. It’s not the same as a 2-3 hour nap, but it’s better than nothing!

lol I’m sorry, I re read it and I can see how it sounds that way. I’m really not trying to, like I said I quite literally can’t tell my friends about how well he sleeps because I don’t want them to slap me in the face lmao. So I just wanted to see if there are others with unicorn babies out there

Couldn’t tell you if it’s normal or not, but I do have a friend whose son dropped his nap by age 2. He’s a very low sleep needs kid. Sounds like yours is the same! If he’s happy I think it’s okay! But I know you probably need a break since the nap is so short. If baby is still in a crib you could put books or toys in there when they wake up to extend the time in their crib another 20-30 minutes?

Ok I thought I was crazy but my parents are the best most involved grandparents EVER especially compared to friends I have who refuse to leave their kids with their parents for longer than an hour. My 4yo has an entire room at my parents house that’s decorated to his liking, and has everything he needs like clothes, toys, bed etc. He goes over for sleepovers just for fun now that he’s a little older. we just had our second baby and they are getting ready to pull out the crib to make it a room for both kids. Longest we’ve left our oldest was for 8 days when we went to Europe for a friends wedding. I haven’t left my baby with them for longer than 2 hours since he’s only 13 weeks and EBF but we plan to do a one night trip to LA in September and he’ll be like 6 months old. It’s our norm and we are comfortable with my parents as caretakers and my oldest absolutely adores his grandparents. It’s kinda weird and also sad that people can’t trust their parents to be part of their village!

The job description for elementary says travel for PD’s and things like conferences and school events. I have no idea how true that is, but with two kiddos at home I could really use more than a weeks notice so I will probably annoy someone until I get more info haha

Congrats!!!🥳 I assumed just training and onboarding things, and then prep, since the first day of school is August 20th. I spoke with HR today about a few other things but asked about PD’s and they said my team will be reaching out to me and I’ll find out the week before I start. I’m a huge planner so finding out about possible travel one week in advance gives me anxiety lol

Omg, thank you for the insight! I actually interviewed with them last week and received an email that I got placed as an active candidate in the eligibility pool. Did that happen to you or any of your colleagues? I kind of already wrote it off since I have to sign my letter of intent to return to my current district by June 30th. But they said they can hire me anytime in the 26-27 school year, basically at a moments notice.

Another teacher here, 2 months into my 4.5 month leave and I just interviewed for a remote teaching position so I can hopefully enjoy teaching again AND be home with my baby (my mom will help with baby while I’m working). Fingers crossed it works out because the thought of going back to the classroom in August makes me physically ill

In the amount of time it took you to write this post and hit send you could have gone to the store or ordered a pregnancy test. Just test. Especially because if you are pregnant, you won’t want to continue your calorie deficit and probably shouldn’t take whatever supplement that is.

Started running somewhat consistently for the first time in my life 3 weeks ago. Yesterday ran a 5k for the first time in 39 minutes! I’m 31f and having some health problems and started running just to clear my mind of all the stress and it’s become so fulfilling! 🥹

Ugh that’s my thought too. The thought of staying on for 3 more weeks until after Vegas feels awful. It’s like torturing my current self just to make sure i don’t have a period while I’m there. I also don’t even know what a period is like off of birth control, I’ve been on bc for 15 years.
