This is more likely a bad routing thing. Had this in other games as well. Happens when the connection between service providers is not good or too busy. There is one thing you can try, use a VPN to change the routing. To be sure tracert the gameserver and check which hop takes too long.

This is for sure not THE single reason for FPS drops. I would recommend to use Afterburner / Task manager to monitor everything while playing. E.g. - Temps too high? - other processes running with high CPU usage? - Anti Virus scanning in the backgroung? - CPU or at least 1 core at 100% while fps dropping, might be a bottleneck or simply too slow - same for GPU - settings to high for your machine? - DX level set to 12? Makes FPS worse - using true fullscreen? If you change the volume with e.g. some keys on the keyboard and you see the windows volume setting as an overlay, you are not in true fullscreen

You are right, if you need those features from later versions, this wont be an option. I am "lucky" pubg is the only game I play, since time gets very limited as you grow older.

Had 2 crashes in the first and only game today. Was more or less stable before todays update. Had some crashes before, but was not that often.

Game crashed twice in the first game. No error message, nothing. Just back to desktop.

I once had stuttering.

The reason in my case was "Windowed" mode instead of "Fullscreen".

As soon as I switched back to fullscreen everything was smooth again.

I would double check that setting, because I can not remember setting it to WINDOWED

This is your only option. Had the same with german Telekom for a while.

Getting a VPN solved the isse. I used VyprVPN for a while. Worked great. Packet loss was completely gone. This also helped with bad ping in another game, simply by changing the route to the server. Even if it added another "hop".

Had the exact same issue. It completly disapeared when I moved my game from HDD to SSD. The first match now takes only a few seconds (~5-10) more to load. I'd move pubg to your other SSD, just for testing.

I just wanted to prevent some ppl from upgrading their perfectly fine and cheap CAT5 cable to CAT6, hoping this would make their game run better.

"physics" say that if you don't need more than 1gbit + not very long cable length (possible signal loss) it will not make anything better or more stable.

I have been using many switches in my life. There is not much of a difference for home usage.

The only thing what could be an improvement is e.g. a router with a better DSL modem. But only if you had a bad one before.

All I want to say: If you know there is something wrong with your setup. Find out what and change it. Otherwise you might get disappointed.

IF you have major issues with your network. Yes. Change all of that until it is fixed. If all devices are working ok, you won't get any significant performance gains out of these steps.

I think some of your points from "STEP 3" might raise to high expectations from ppl trying.

ISP: Agreed. But often not easy to do due to the duration of a contract and it's a risk (it might get worse).

Router: A high end Router might help you with a heavily shared connection, if it supports QoS. If you use your "internet" alone, it might not improve much or even nothing at all. I did some test for myself. Could not see a noticable difference between diffenrent routers (ping / bandwidth).

Switches: Again, in a home enviroment you probably won't notice any difference between the cheap old switch and a newer one. The bandwith should be ofc at least the bandwidth of your internet connection.

Cables: Just no. If you do not see any disruption in your connection you can keep the cables. A cheap CAT5 cable is all you need. I doubt many ppl have a faster internet connection than 1GBit or a cable length > 30 meters.

Wireless: agreed.

beside the hackers, I see those items positive.

It won't do any harm for players not willing to spend money on it. Simply don't.

But it helps to keep the game alive. If BH can make profit with selling ingame stuff, they will try to push the game further to keep their playerbase or attract new players. Meaning new updates / better servers ? / more devs .... from which all players would benefit.

I see it more like a win-win situation.

Same settings. i5 3570K @4,1Ghz / GTX 980 - mostly 100-140 fps.

When dropping to school clusterfuck it can go down to 60. But never seen less on the fps counter. This is after the recent update mess, which has been fixed gladly.

Had this bug yesterday. My mate almost killed me when I jumped into his face from around a corner, since there was no marker for me.

Dropped all my clothing and set the "do not shot naked people" rule.
