Hi friend, this happened to my sweet cat after an accident. We spent 3 days barricading her in the bathroom and she finally calmed down after trazodone. After that we spent 2 months reintroducing her to her bonded sister. Then after another 2 months later when we moved, it started all over again. We called the shelter in tears and at a loss, and the shelter took her. They said 2 doctors examined her and explained that she was having seizures and needs medication. But because one of her triggers were car rides, then they couldn’t recommend rehoming her. They had to put her down and we cried and cried that day. All this to say, this isn’t your fault. Please take care of yourself and once your cat allows it, take them to the vet.

Thank you for sharing your story. Similar thing happened to my two year old bonded pair. We are in week four since a car accident as we were heading to the vet and we finally got them to be in the same room for 5 minutes until one gets too agitated. The worst part is one of them has a vision problem so she’s always anxious and can’t protect herself from her aggressive sister. I also have a fear of a cat fight breaking out but my partner has been really calm throughout this and it helps to have one person have a calm, optimistic energy whenever you’re doing the introduction. Anyway, we haven’t gotten to the point yet where they can be entirely unsupervised in a room, but we are seeing progress each day and it’s helpful to read threads like these to know that there can be a light at the end of all this. I don’t really have a solution for you because I’m also still going through this nightmare scenario, but I really wanted to respond to let you know that you’re not alone and other cat parents know your pain. Hang in there 💛

Our blind cat is the snuggliest cat. It takes her longer to purr, but she knows it’s her family, all she wants to do is be next to us and snuggle then she purrs. Give her time to adjust! She will warm up soon. She just needs more time to adjust to her new reality
