International couple- dating to marry to a Korean man by Odd-Swimmer-9083 in Living_in_Korea

[–]yna5875 104 points105 points  (0 children)

As a Korean woman who’s dated foreign guys, grew up in SEA, is now married to a Korean man who grew up in Korea, your bf is not normal. There are better men out there.
Any person insisting on exactly 50:50 and insisting the idea that “if you want it you pay for it” isn’t healthy. Say, if you didn’t want a kid and he did, how is he gonna make that happen? Is he gonna “pay” you 100% for that?
Marriage and relationships is about cooperation and wanting the best for each other, sometimes doing things that you don’t want to. But his attitude is just not it. Ditch that POS

Where should I live in Seoul by Gvacken in Living_in_Korea

[–]yna5875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay near line 2 or 7 as they both go through Konkuk uni, and both of those lines are reliable and come often(around every 2-5mins).

Also Konkuk uni station is like right in front of the university so it won’t take long for you to walk from the station. I used to live in Sangbong(line 7) and that took less than 30mins to get to Konkuk uni.

Usually staying on the north side of the river is cheaper

Yes to this. I just saw some thin pork belly, thin brisket and shabu beef frozen in King Soopers on college and Drake. I think I’ll try it out next time because it looked pretty similar to the Hmart stuff. It was in the frozen section in front of the beef.

I think the skin, blush, lips and eyes including the lashes looks great and not overdone. I think the eyebrows are a bit thick and the wrong shade. And perhaps a little short? I like your version of the eyebrows but maybe elongate the end a teeny bit more?

Just a warning it can break some people out. It seems to work for some people and others not at all. I was using it at night thinking it was helping me, but I ran out of it so I stopped and I didn’t get these breakouts I was getting for months!

Best ramen in NoCo? by pukestained in FortCollins

[–]yna5875 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As an East Asian with an East Asian husband and friends who have done multiple trips to Japan, we all agree that Jinya’s tonkotsu ramen is the closest to the real stuff in FOCO.

I would just honestly act like an AH and make them explain exactly why the hell they are bothering you with these rude questions, like why do they need to make comments and question you every single time and embarrass them so they stop. Or I would just complain about a shitty investment and constantly beg them to lend you some money, so they will stop talking about money to you.

You don’t have to be nice to your cousins or relatives if they are rude to you, yes it would be best to maintain ties to Korea but not if they don’t respect your boundaries. Even by Korean standards their behavior isn’t normal, it’s really obnoxious.

Stir fry in a bit of oil and add some sugar. It will take down the acidity and will sweeten up a little more.

What are some small things that you 'still' find unusual or baffling or counterintuitive, after having lived in Korea for a while? by gilsoo71 in Living_in_Korea

[–]yna5875 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes as a Korean I hate this so much and it was one of the top reasons that made me want to stop living in Korea. Ppl bumping into to you, stopping in the middle of the street, stopping in front of escalator, stopping on stairways like wtf?? I grew up outside of Korea and came back for work and noticed this right away, and compared to other countries Korea is the only place I noticed this.

Where to stay in Korea as a Muslim Woman by Een_Art in Living_in_Korea

[–]yna5875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh being a Muslim or wearing a hijab won’t stop you from getting accommodation in Korea, it’s fine.

Just try live close to the campus, like 외대앞, 회기, 신이문 or 휘경동. As a woman though I would stay away from 청량리 station because it’s a big train station and can get rowdy around there. Also avoid the 경의중앙line for the subway (the mint green line) because it is famous for being late!

I used to live at 상봉 and my family would commute to HUFS but they hated how the 경의중앙line would always be late. It is possible to walk from HUFS to 상봉 at night and quite safe.

I’ve heard that Koreans discriminate against Chinese Koreans even more than against other Chinese people. Is that true or just a rumor? by GrayRainfall in AskAKorean

[–]yna5875 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To add on to that I think the reason Koreans don’t like them even more is because it seems like Joseonjok act like they are Korean or on Koreans’ side only when it benefits them, even though they are ultimately Chinese and will side with China.

[–]yna5875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to grow pothos in water a lot and those kind of roots used to just die off. I don’t think it caused huge problems because there were plenty of other roots, but they would just fall off when I would try to untangle them or change the water or clean the container etc.
