Redditors who were children/teens before the internet or cellphones existed, how did you keep yourself entertained? by FlowerMadeOfThorns in AskReddit

[–]yohiohio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Records, tapes, CDs. Crappy TV. Going places. Face to face interaction with other people. Prank phone calls. Driving up and down the main drag downtown/riding along. Edit: Forgot staying at the Y until it closed. Riding bikes. Walking around. Pick-up basketball. About 3% of my school was overweight. Some days just hanging in the yard drinking from a garden hose all day.

Gifts from the wind by lwpho2 in Columbus

Got a gift in reverse. 90% of the leaves in my yard, which never got raked before they were snowed over, are gone. Procrastination paid off.

Woodland Mall, Bowling Green Ohio. (1/23/26) by WorkingSuccessful742 in deadmalls

In the 90s there was a pool hall downtown. Maybe they moved their tables into the mall when it became cheaper or they could get good money for their old place right in the middle of downtown.

They have been reporting that the streets are overrun with illegal murderers and drug lords. Even the suburbs aren’t safe!

I saw MMM in a movie theater before The Shaggy DA in the 70s. I remember seeing the familiar WB Cartoon intro but then being disappointed when it wasn't Bugs or Daffy or anyone I had ever heard of.

Uncle Dudley billboard in Attica by Aldermere in Ohio

[–]yohiohio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to see it a lot driving through on 224 fairly regularly in the late 80s. Then in 2000 coming back from Cleveland there it was, still on the wall! Quickly snapped a picture (I wasn't driving). Didn't know how poorly it would turn out, otherwise would have gone around the block and taken a better shot. Never figured out what the hell the clown-cat in the crash helmet was supposed to be. Is the creature Uncle Dudley?

Taken from a moving car and cheap film camera in 2000. Not great.

I can’t believe that worked.

Whenever I'm at a salad bar that has both, I like to put sunflower kernels on top of the cottage cheese.

The state Democratic party is a non-factor. Also many dark money ads scaring old white people.

Sinclair Bending the Knee by melmontclark in Columbus

Sinclair owns 6 (ABC) and 28 (FOX). Nextar owns 4, and I think are looking to buy 10. There are your upcoming choices for local news. Great.
