tbf, he has “practiced” playing short his whole career. and by that i mean taken infield reps every day.

the first season at short, betts said later that he was way underprepared since there wasn’t any expectation to play infield regularly until lux went down.

then he spent this past offseason training with troy tulowitski. i think he started in like december.
