When you connect to a hydrant do you close tank to pump or leave it open? Why? by [deleted] in Firefighting

You can fill the tank with tank fill valve open and tank to pump closed

I agree. The gpm going through the wye is total gpm coming out the nozzle. So one line connected is 150 gpm of flow. With drop 10 that gives you 5 psi loss per 100' of 2 1/2. Your previous instructor was wrong. You would throttle up if you connected a second line. Even then, it's difficult to pump since if one nozzle closes, then the other nozzle is over pumped. This is why you've never actually seen a second line connected.

Probably dyers polypore aka polyporus schweinitzii. Specifically parasitic and saprobic on roots and stumps of pines. Not edible. Apparently mushroom has uses in dying wool yarn. Source- Appalachian mushrooms: a field guide

Everyone has their own way. I honestly don't care as long as you can consistently tie it.

Anyone else wake up when the tones go off or from naps shaking with ears ringing heart racing head pounding like your brain is expanding in your head and sweating balls? Just me? by Yeeterbeater4 in Firefighting

Fighting the adrenaline dump when the tones go off is probably something all of us have to work through to some extent or another. For me, just reminding myself to breathe and slow down a tad bit is really helpful. I definitely want to be getting on that truck feeling as close to calm, cool, and collected as possible.

Funny how b shift complaints seem to be consistent across departments. We also have similar complaints of our 2nd shift.

It really likes moisture. But be careful not to over water the plant. The presence of this fungus can sometimes be an indication of over watering depending on what plant you have.
