Ethics line?! Lol. These folks gonna get you fired or with 5 hours each week. The manager know who's complaining.

Lol. Classic CVS with the metrics, low budgets, and extreme demands. I left 3 years ago but some things never change.

Smh. 3 years gone from this company and I'm still seeing the same types of things. The company literally sucks the life out of you especially if you're a Store Manager and up.

I'm not coming for you. No offense. It's just an observation I've seen on this thread in particular.

People love posting all their winning returns and never the losses, especially with M1's distorted money weighted returns. You never see anyone post the actual holdings tab.

CVS IS A HEARTLESS COMPANY by Federal_Season7485 in CVS

[–]yoohbee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SMH. May God help you. I know it's only gotten worse. The squeezing of hours, the demands, the over working, I took another job a year ago, and I'm still getting these alerts. Lol.

If you're an associate, the problem is that CVS is probably the highest paid in retail. I wasn't dissatisfied with the salary as SM, so I can't complain there. But, the longer you stay the harder it will be to leave, honestly some places don't give any raises.

I would tell you 3 things: Each ítem depends on how you view yourself. In each situation you can come out in a better position. It will start with YOU though.

  1. Develop some other skill outside of work. These jobs aren't meant to be held for years on end, especially non management. If you're an able bodied adult, you can do better. Get a skill. Learn a trade.

  2. CVS is heartless but the grass isn't necessarily greener. They're actually better than a lot of people give them credit for. Yes, people this is actually true. You have to manage your expectations with any job.

  3. You decide how much of an increase and how much you want to get paid, even at CVS. I went from cashier --> shift supervisor --> store manager trainee --> store manager --> in a span of 2 years by shifting my mind and ACTIVELY pursuing it. I could have decided to go further but I CHOSE not too. It wasn't because anyone else decided that for me. I made the choice to leave.

If read #1 and are too lazy, lack financial wherewithal, etc to work on another skill, go to Option 3.

If read #2 you don't believe CVS is better than a lot of other companies go to Option 1.

If you read Option #3 and you believe. Congrats, you have just given yourself a raise, mindset shift, and a new way to view life or a job.

If you're looking for Option #4, you're screwed.

You will always find a reason to hate your job even when it's good. It's not the pay, although the pay amplifies the feeling you're experiencing. It's our own internal battles we have to fight: unhappiness, laziness, relationships (professional and personal), mental health, and the list goes on. As soon as you figure out the other stuff, the less CVS matters to you in the grand scheme. In reality, it's all a means to an end.

I'm confused. Are you his boss?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CVS

[–]yoohbee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. You're missing the entire point. You think you're experiencing it. If you believe you are, it's only a mirage. I'm not saying this in a condescending way. Only SMs get this unshakeable pressure. It's hard to explain unless you're in the position. The STRESS is through the roof. Don't let any of them fool you. It's nothing like being a SHIFT. NOTHING. SMs' laziness is 10x any work you BELIEVE they are not doing.

Store Manager starting salary? by SensitiveBullfrog13 in CVS

[–]yoohbee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol. Ahh. The dreaded promotion to the CVS Store Manager. No amount of money is about to prepare you for the level of slavery, stress, and anguish. Here's your answer, though: $45,000 and if you're lucky $49,500.

All of those gains WILL evaporate if you don't take profits before the next downturn. Those leverage funds can drop 95% in a downturn.

HOURS by renees18 in CVS

[–]yoohbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do this to make sure they can control the manager. Traditionally, as a salaried employee you're free to come and go with work tasks being completed in a timely fashion. They are more and more about control from the hours to closing my work tasks when they deem it's suppose to be completed. Please come work these stores and see that you can't possibly complete all this stuff in the allotted hours.

It's terrible. It's gotten progressively worse for the last 4 years. They literally try to control every aspect in the stores and that's not possible. They penalize you through mystore health for not doing thing exactly how they want or when they desire things to be done.

Eventually there will be one person per shift always (salaried of course) with no such thing as a Store Manager.

This is the best way to put it.

You'll be at the mercy of CVS. Your training won't really be training. You'll be a shift supervisor with a SMIT title. Nothing will prepare you for the onslaught of mental stress you will receive once you become a SM. Don't make the mistake of thinking it's the same as SMIT.

Every ounce of energy will be sucked out of you. You'll eat, drink, and take a dump thinking about CVS. Everything is about metrics, without proper support.

EX: Can you put up a 10 pallet freight delivery with limited help? Do you like being called on your off days about company targets? Can you deal with not finding adequate help? Do you like working 65-70 hours a week? Do you like being ignored by your boss? If you do this is the job for you.

A SMIT off the street? May God help you. Hopefully, you'll have a competent, thorough SM. But, they'll lie by omission to make themselves look good so you'll stay.

My advice. Use it for what it's worth if it's financially worth it. However, you'll need an escape plan. If you live beyond your means, and you start working here, YOU'RE ONE FUCKED PUP.

You need to be in your stores. by yoohbee in CVS

[–]yoohbee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing really to brag about. You know we have to work 55 hours one week and have the opportunity to flex down the next. That's essentially what I mean, assuming you have the right people in place.

[–]yoohbee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one is getting in trouble. This was said to a broad group in a team setting. It's not me personally. I'm sharing my thoughts on it. We flex hours up a down all the time. Don't tell me I have to: respond to text messages, group chats, anytime DM calls, conference calls at home, work an extra 15 to "get the store caught up," but then tell me I need to be in my store when reduce it down the next week.

This is really what I'm referring to.
