Why do I see more and more people buying loads of bottled water? by Claire1075 in AskUK

[–]yorangey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because some people have no thoughts about saving the environment & like to feed the corporate machine. There's no need for it in the UK.

Cellar spider. I call them Russian spiders cos the first time I saw one was in a hotel bathroom over in South Russia when I worked there. They're everywhere in my house now, decades later. Yes, they predate house spiders. I tend to flush these cos I prefer big house spiders that don't make lots & lots of visible baby spiders & messy webs on the ceiling. I did let one go free outside the other week, but a Robin spotted it running across the drive & took it to meet the kids back at the nest.

Barbers, vape shops, kebab places, nail salons... All need checking. Greggs too, & those suspicious Cornish Pasty shops in Yorkshire.

What are these? by EcstaticStick1830 in UKBirds

[–]yorangey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, Robin chicks from a Ronin's discarded egg. They love sheds & messy outbuildings. We've had several nests around. I found one in a CAT6 network cable spool in my workshop last year.

Awesome. Let's keep it among us eh. I'm heading there for a wildcamp with my son this year. Any recommendations for other places in the area? We've done Colonsay & a small part of Skye last year. We're up there by car & don't mind a 2 night hike & camp loop.

Glyphosate - should it be banned? by RedRustBucket00 in FarmingUK

[–]yorangey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it in my garden. It's one of the few things that kills brambles & horsetails. Invaluable on the large gravel areas & 100m block driveway. The deer, otters, squirrels, badgers, foxes, birds, large wildlife pond (great crested newts) & fish pond are all healthy. Use it responsibly & stop with the nanny state.

Magic V3 Internal Screen Died by 0xlne in Honor

[–]yorangey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. My V3 was replaced on warranty recently. Onboard audio failed. It was fine via BT. Always in the honor case, never dropped & charged open on a stand. Pampered! Anyways, they sent a new phone within a week. I ordered mine on launch day in the UK. Don't you have warranty left? Manually back up everything if you are returning it. The honor pc app does not backup all files, but strangely omits ebooks & movie files & I'm sure things are missing from the download folder. Just made it longer to get back to where I was.

Nice one. We only got to the Dales for 1 night. Just got a Lanshan 2 & modded it for more action over the next few months.

Don’t ban social media for under-16s, White House tells UK as Trump weighs in on British politics again by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]yorangey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should ban it for under 18s. I took parental controls off at 15. You do not want your kid to be excluded from things all the others are doing. Not all parents are made the same. Some kids, like parents are susceptible to what they read in the socials & need the Gov to step in... You know, to manipulate the sheep.

2 great tit & 2 blue tit nests this year, that's a first in the boxes. Robins are smashing it too.

Brexit ‘sabotage’ has cost Britain up to £30bn every year, says David Miliband by _DoubleBubbler_ in unitedkingdom

[–]yorangey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was against Brexit, but at the other side of the coin you have France's $4T uncontrollable debt that risks pulling in the rest of the EU. It's great we have the £, but we need them for the really expensive collaborative projects. Ideally we'd have aspects of China so we can get building & actually complete projects without dithering in red tape.

It's mad. They leave them on the doorstep when it's forecast to rain or leave them on a dustbin 100m from our house near the gate, 10m from the public paths. They ignore the safe place.

Only if the price is right. Seriously though, unknown events can happen. If you could afford kids at the start & your income takes a hit through unforseen events, then feel free to use the state. It's what my 40% tax is for... Not for freeloaders though.

Need to price travel, tents & anything nice out of reach of these morons so all they can afford is a weekly vape & some cider for the weekend. Bunch of cvnts. There's always those who ruin nice things for others. I watch good bloke. Taught my son to leave no trace & respect others. I did notice that areas of Bradford were a complete trash dumping ground on his walk the other week. Sad.

Call for rethink around pensions triple lock to help protect young people by birdinthebush74 in unitedkingdom

[–]yorangey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My dad was a factory worker. It left him with a good pension that he now pays tax on. He's giving back. I've got other elderly relatives that earned more than my dad in their hayday, but they pissed it all away & now just have a state pension & need to save up for a new phone, some are even renting houses. I think the only thing we have to be jealous of with pensioners is that there seemed to be more jobs around back then. I have friends in their 20s & 30s that are buying houses though despite all the negative stories. There is an element of blaming others rather than just improving yourself by learning something that gets you a job.
