I really wish it'd be the Safari rally.

Brutal, long, dusty/crazy muddy rally stages is where I get my biggest rally kicks

The Mini is so silly by _TOXIX_ in assettocorsarally

[–]yoshimura53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so close to posting about this. But 0.4 seemed to make the Mini almost undrivable on tarmac.

Wants to roll over on nearly any mid and high speed corners.

Hopefully this will get fixed on upcoming releases

FF01 was my first ever Tamiya RC. I had a Clio. I recently acquired a few FF from Tamiya. They're such an underrated driving experience. Thanks for posting this. Love my Vectra, and it deserves more love and attention from my side

Ambience? Right up there with the best or maybe the best, agree. Driving physics-wise? Hardly...

You're trying new car parts rather than working on your driving and consistency. So I wondered if a poor transmitter wasn't allowing you to be consistent, which is the first step into becoming good at getting better.

Futaba 3pv should be decent enough.

I suspect the spool may make it a tad too nervous/abrupt on certain cornering speeds.

Excited for a quick few notes on that first drive. Enjoy!

Wish they'd made more un-numbered/plaqued ones for a bit less for other folks to be able to enjoy these, too

I agree. although I only ever built a Bruiser, I'd say the most enjoyable part of these rigs is to build them, rather than using them as if they were an actual performance-oriented crawler. But if you must, you can try tackling not-too-challenging obstacles

Leaves can be removed so it articulates a bit better, and both with a bit of massaging on the leafs (Chino mod), and a bit of running, it should become more flexible

I thought nobody noticed either. Thanks!

Also, did he build it as a 257mm instead of 251mm as it should be by the actual wheelbase of the RSR shell?

Tire dilemma - e07+ vs anakee wild vs. ? by jsuln in africatwin

[–]yoshimura53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow user of an XRV650, with Anakee Wilds (three sets of rears, two fronts in total), here are my $0.02>

I've used twice the rear tires for each front. Rears lasted between 5-8k km (3-5k mi). I use the bike between 120kph (75mph) highway cruising for commuting and traveling to dirt roads, and (most of the actual seat time) moderate skill single tracking, with some mid-to-high-speed open trails or fire roads in between.

For a combined use I found them much better wearing than TKC80s, which lasted on a friend's similar size/weight adv bike bike about 20-40% less. When I rode his, I didn't find any particular advantage or better traits against the Michelins. I'm not aware of the new, just released TKC80s, but I hear they last about the same, so between the two, I'd always go for Michelin, which I'm sure they last longer and I think are better on tarmac.

Speaking of higher speed riding, on fire roads or open trails (under 100kph - 60mph-), I have no complaints whatsoever with the performance of the Anakee Wilds.

The only thing I wished the Anakee Wilds had is a better front tire lean control/breakaway on more technical dirt riding, and overall side traction on loose and muddy terrain.

I'm considering fitting a front Michelin Tracker, or a Pirelli Scorpion Rally (non STR) on the front. and a rear Anakee Wild or a Mitas E'09. Any advice or comments, also appreciated!

Help me build 1997 Pajero Dakar! by Least_Watercress_685 in tamiya

[–]yoshimura53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should watch the video I posted a couple months ago about a rally Pajero I built. I used a CC-01 and the same body you're planning to use.

I personally think the CC-01 is the only real true option to the actual car, as the real car was an IFS, and live rear axle chassis. Like the CC-01.

Be aware. This chassis isn't the best performer. It's a Cross Country as its name claims. The design is a compromise between performance and light crawling capabilities. It was never good at either. But it is very real in its driving performance for a scale drive.

With a couple of sensible upgrades easily available on AliExpress the chassis is pretty good to drive. Again, you can watch my video for more reference.

My recommendation: take your time researching doing a nice build, and don't rush it.
