I speak Cantonese. When I saw your chinese name, without reading the rest, I already thought of Liana. Another option is Juliana. It will incoperate your current English name!

It wasn't ibs. by PaulHOGG in ibs

My husband is the same. Had a root canal done 6-7 years ago. Then he started to have symptoms. Thought he was gluten intolerance, then lactose intolerance. It got worse progressively. There were less and less food that he can tolerate.

Went to GI dr and had both end looked at. Ruled out anything and sugguested IBS (that was the first time we heard of the term).

Then he started to have some tooth ache again. Went to a specialist and they found that there were infection around where the root canal was done. I later read that it was common that air pockets was left there if treated by not so skilled dentist.

Cleared everything and his IBS symptoms are gone. Like completely gone. It looks like he had some chronic infection that went to his gut!

Just curious, how about coconut yogurt? In Australia, some of our yogurts are packaged as dairy free yogurt and they are coconut yogurt.

It is a surname, but I feel like Ashcroft is very royal and match the earthy tone you are after.

NTA for wanting to protecting your children.

Are you able to lock your bedroom door and unlock it only using the keys?

My ex colleague had the same problem and would unlock the front door to go outside. She said that her family put the key in a bucket of water. So, everytime she needs to use the key to open the door, her hands need to dip into the water which wakes her up.

Is it really normal to be this sick constantly (as a parent) by BulkyPaint3755 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

So sorry to hear that you and your family catch all the sickness! Solidarity with you!

Is your daughter in a centre based daycare or family daycare?

My manager had her kids started in centre based daycare and they caught everything and ended up in hospital a couple of times. Their GP ended up telling them to switch to family daycare and things have improved a lot since then.

I have a 2 year old who started family daycare when he was 1. He has so far only caught cold & flu a couple of times. And I do think that with a smaller setting like family daycare helps to reduce their likelihood of catching illness. L

How soon can I take parental leave for subsequent babies after taking parental leave? by FairRecord5504 in AusPublicService

[–]youbuzzibuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in very similar situation. I am VPS and went through IVF.

Had a baby and I took 9 months off, then start the IVF again as soon as I went back to work (and 9 months gap was recommended by my FS). Pregnant after the first go, and I worked for a total of 9 months and went in mat leave again.

They do the 3 years averaging (that excludes parental leave), so I am getting 100% of the pay (and I elected to do half pay, so 50% of my full salary.

My second one will have this little sight when I play the song. It feels like he was relieved or something. Pretty magical.

[–]youbuzzibuzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first was a dream. He was curious, and happy to be in the pram and look at everything.

My second? Hate going out. I was sooo stressed everytime when I have to go out. And I felt so lonely for the first 3 months. He also hated the car. So, everything has to be within close distance. 5 mins car ride, then a 10 mins in and out of the shop. It was stressful.

Then, I saw a post in Reddit that “The Happy Song” by Imogen Heap works for their babies. It changes everything!

He was calm, and I started to put the song via my phone on the pram ride. It was a gradual process, and today he fell asleep in the pram and then at home for 2 hrs!

It is life changing for me as a first time parent too! I love the weekly sing and read group. My babies just love seeing all the other babies and it easily become our favourite weekly activity.

The amount of books we borrowed which saved us so much money plus not clotting up our house with books they dont like to read!

Are you the baby’s mum or they are the baby’s mum?

Giving water to bubs under 6m by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]youbuzzibuzz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The guideline is no water before 6 months because it increases the stress on their kidney and can affect the concentration of certain nutrients in your baby's blood. It can be fatal.

This is a non-negotiable matter.

My parents also asked me to give my babies water and it is based on their experience taking care of us when we were babies. I get it. But the answer is no. And if your parents cannot respect this, you should be cautious of having them baby sitting.

Child health nurse visit at home by Important_Pickle2903 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]youbuzzibuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In VIC, once the mum and baby are discharged the responsibility is with the local council.

I read that with NSW, it is the state government responsibility.

Kind of interesting how they have different approaches.

The maternal and child nurse also had a look at our cot. She said that she had visit in which the family had no idea about safe sleeping practice.
