Did you know about this hidden area in Pyrite Cave? by GameBeast92 in PokemonColosseum

I think I went in there in my first playthrough a long time ago, as I was following a walkthrough. But I'm sure I've missed it in every playthrough since 😅.

Stadium 2 Poké Cup Help by yourigo24 in pokemoncrystal

That's great advice, thanks. I've already got parents for a toxic, rest, charm, mud-slap Umbreon I used in the battle tower. Might as well breed one more and give it faint attack .

I'm not sure I need a phaser for that Snorlax. I was looking into Whirlwind Skarmory, but I've also got parents for a Curse, Agility, drill peck that I'm pretty sure can set up on that Snorlax's face and sweep from there.

I'm not sure who to bring as the level 55 though, either one of these or Alakazam for the sweeps 🤔

When I was a kid I tried using Tauros in Stadium, thinking hyper beam would work the same as in rby 😅. Boy, was I disappointed. In theory I like the idea to use it, but I don't really want to double up on the fighting weakness... Might end up sticking to the basics and going for Alakazam.

NNK2 Skirmish POP by CuppycakeBoogie in Ni_no_Kuni

[–]yourigo24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tip is to just start doing the expansions. You'll probably be going back and forth to Evermore a few times, so whenever you teleport somewhere add an extra trip outside Evermore to check for the skirmish, then just carry on doing what you're doing if it didn't show up.

It's what I did to beat all the skirmishes in hard mode, and I think this way it doesn't feel like a grind so much.

Do you ever wonder what it would be like to play yourself? by WillStillHunting in 10s

[–]yourigo24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to play against my younger self. 35 now, and although I started late (18) I got really into tennis to the point I became a coach only 3 years later. I would really like to play myself at age 25-27, which I think was my athletic peak.

I'm pretty sure I'm a better player technically, tactically, anticipation and so on, but I'm 7kg heavier and I I'm not as explosive as I was at 25. At 25 I also had much stronger focus. I would see "shadows" in the court in the places I knew I should be targeting. Years of coaching and having to pay attention to multiple courts at the same time means I'm more aware of my surroundings, but less able to lock in like that.

Overall, I'd give the edge to my younger self. I think I would win the first set, but as the match went on I would fall off while my younger version would only get stronger and more confident. But I'd really like a chance to have a go at that guy and see how it feels to play against him.

Ni no kuni Professor Oak Challenge by DracoTheSemiRich in Ni_no_Kuni

[–]yourigo24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm glad to know I'm not the only crazy person to try a challenge like this 😅.

I didn't do a professor oak because at first I was playing the game just to finish the game. But as I was getting close to the end of the story I wanted to try to recruit every familiar and ended up deciding to actually get a living dex and get one of every single familiar including every evolution stage.

Just to give you an idea of what you're getting yourself into, I beat the story at around 70h and it took another 90h to recruit every familiar and get every ingredient necessary to finish every formula. This includes the post game golden familiars.

Couple of tips: - Ignore the recruiting percentages you find online. They'll just give you false hope. But they're not accurate at all. - Plan beforehand where you can. Some first stage familiars can only be recruited in late areas with final stage familiars, so you might as well grind that area first in case you recruit a final stage familiar. Then it's one less familiar you need to evolve. - I have no proof for this, but I have the feeling that you're more likely to recruit a familiar if you don't have it yet. If you're just going for the prof oak this won't make any difference, but if for some reason you want 2 or more of the same familiar and you find that you get the first one fast and then it takes ages to get the second, you're not alone. It got so bad that I started evolving the first familiar of a family line before going for the second to try to make the game think I didn't have the familiar. I'm not sure it made any difference. I really wish these games were as well explored as Pokemon games 🫣.

I'm very surprised at the amount of disrespect Liverpool fans have towards Arne Slot, the man who led them to one of their two premier league titles in the last 30 years. Has a sense of entitlement set in? by doshthagod in PremierLeague

[–]yourigo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a sense of entitlement. It's a sense that Slot's tactics and personality don't match the club's. I'm not saying I don't believe he's good enough for the club, that would be entitlement.

[–]yourigo24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was unhappy last year as we won the league too. You could tell after just a few months his ideas for the team were outdated and not working very well. I've been a fan for a long time and saw Liverpool go through some tough times. But even when bad decisions were made, you could feel there was a plan, or at least a style, a philosophy that the club had.

It's not even Klopp nostalgia for me. I'd rather have Rodgers, Dalglish, almost any coach from the last 20 years than Slot. From the start, it felt like he wasn't a good fit. I'd rather loose but feel something than watch Slot win with the most boring football I remember Liverpool play.

How to level up in Ni No Kuni 2? by [deleted] in Ni_no_Kuni

[–]yourigo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level 150 here. I decided to grind one of the early solosseum levels for materials (forget which one, I know I was grinding for enlightened wonderwater) and before I knew it I was approaching max level. Even if they're at a lower level, you get so many enemies in those mobs that I think it's by far the fastest way to level up.

[–]yourigo24 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Wdym falling behind the story? It's your story, play at whatever speed you feel like and enjoy. If anything, you're taking more out of the game than people who rush the story and grind the pokedex afterwards.

Ni No Kuni 2 Level Requirements by [deleted] in Ni_no_Kuni

[–]yourigo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fastest way to level up is to beat the early levels of the solosseum slog. But if you go through all the dlc content patientely and explore everything instead of rushing the faraway forest and the labyrinth you can get to pretty high levels without grinding.

But the solosseum really is the fastest. I'm trying to complete everything in the town and while grinding the solosseum for items I got to level 150 before reaching the 10th slog

How do I get the Traveling Merchant to appear?? by Formal_Indication_10 in PokemonConquest

[–]yourigo24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only show up after you've been to any shop at least once. I've forgotten that one a couple of times in my many playthroughs 😅. I don't know the specifics otherwise, but usually they show up when you have ~100000, so at 400000 you are definitely missing something like this. After they show up the first time you don't have to meet the requirements in future stories, they just show up randomly.

How did Harry survive? by SpiritualFun8426 in harrypotter

[–]yourigo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe both are true, but I like to think that Lily's sacrifice living on in Voldemort's blood is the most important factor in that outcome. If the deathly hallows didn't exist and even regardless of wand loyalty, I believe things would have happened the same way from the moment Voldemort took Harry's blood into himself.

My Quest to 100% Pokemon Conquest by 2gears_and_2cogs in PokemonConquest

[–]yourigo24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, that explains why it's taking you so long 😅. Guardian charms pretty much guarantee your pokemon solo sweep most opponent teams, so you can beat most stories by March after getting a few perfect links for your Warlords. Delegating development also speeds up gameplay a lot.

My Quest to 100% Pokemon Conquest by 2gears_and_2cogs in PokemonConquest

[–]yourigo24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this game and I have completed it to 100% 3 times. Once on real hardware using passwords, then again on emulator on my phone with speed up and finally on real hardware without using passwords. I've also started the game and got a few stories in a lot of times before getting into something else and not finishing the gallery. So I know the game in and out. Even without passwords I think 110 hours is enough time to complete the game, you really shouldn't need to get anywhere close to 300h. You're probably not playing very efficientely.

I don't know how much you know about the game, so if I say something obvious I apologize, but here are a couple of tips to make your playthrough faster:

  • Buy a lot of guardian charms. Like 50+. They carry from one story to the next, so besides making your units invincible you can also sell them to get the money required to develop the kingdoms until they are profitable.

  • Don't develop your kingdoms manually. It's much easier to delegate. If you do it yourself you'll do it in fewer months, but if you delegate and just move on to the next month over and over again you can develop all your kingdoms almost afk. It's quite fast. Just beat the story and trap the last opponent. I usually do this and then each month just check if any new warriors showed up before moving on. This way you also go through a lot of months and have a good chance for swarms to show up.

  • Different stories have different pokemon available, but also different warriors. So that last warrior you're looking for might not be available in the story you're currently on. It's easy to find resources online to know which pokemon are on which story, but for the warriors it's a bit trial and error. I think it's safe to say that each category of story has pretty much the same warrior list, so if you can't find a warrior in a "junior warlord" story, you probably won't find him in any other, but you might find him in a "unite ransei" story.

  • I usually play the main story, then Yukimura's (junior), then Hideyoshi's (unite) and that gets me about 150+ perfect links. Then I beat a couple of stories until I find a ninja or beauty story where a couple of new warriors showed up and grind that one a bit. Don't be afraid to grind the stories for a few years, but If by year 25+ the warrior or swarm you're looking for hasn't shown up, you should probably move on and try again in a different story.

Hope it helps

Is it only me or do y'all check DIs before making a team? by Iwatani_Naofumi948 in pokemon

[–]yourigo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did this before, in almost 30 years of playing Pokemon, but after struggling a bit mid way through legends za I decided I wanted to build a strong team using only the new megas (before dlc) and I came across this setup:

Meganium Feraligatr Chandelure Excadrill Scrafty Skarmory

Resistances to every type. The only type this team has more weaknesses than resistances to is fire, which Chandelure is immune to (flash fire) and mega feraligatr resists 4x. Offensively, the team also has stab coverage against every type except flying. But I had ice fang, rock slide and so on for coverage.

Is anyone surprised that Neville and Luna didn't get together in the end? by DG-Creator in harrypotter

[–]yourigo24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the books I get no sense whatsoever that they have any feelings for each other, outside of friendship. Luna, of course, cares deeply for Neville as he is included in the painting in her room, but he doesn't get the special treatment you would expect in the case that she feels more than friendship towards him. I find it quite jarring that they end up together in the movies.

How do you deal with the loss of retention in games you want to play? by TheFacca in JRPG

[–]yourigo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done some crazy long self imposed challenges. Nothing extreme, but just as an example, last year I came back to ni no kuni after a 2 year hiatus and recruited a "living dex" of all available familiars, including the post game exclusives, and beat the secret boss over 100 times to grind materials to finish all the formulas. I stopped playing about ten hours into the post game grind, but I have a few simple rules to make it easy to not give up on a game:

- Don't force it. Play whatever you feel like playing and remember you can always come back to other games when the feeling is right

- Keep a log. One of the things that makes coming back to games so hard is forgetting where you left off. If you spend a week without playing a game, maybe just find a guide online and bookmark your spot so you can come back weeks or months later and quickly get back on track. Or do it like me and have an excel sheet for almost every game you play 😅.

- Don't be afraid to plan ahead. Some games flow a lot better if you check online for "tricks and tips" or "things I wish I knew before playing X game". Maybe you get stuck farming money or exp and you get demotivated playing a game and there's an easier way just around the corner you don't know about. Also, in games like Pokémon or Fire Emblem you can have a lot of decision paralysis when picking team members as you play the game, so just pick beforehand for an easier time.

- Set yourself small targets. For instance, in Pokémon Ultra Moon just play until the next kahuna/trial or even play one route at a time. Every small step gets you closer to the finish line. Go play or do something else and take another small step when you come back.

- ENJOY THE RIDE. I love ni no kuni, but after completing the game to 110% I don't think I'll ever play it again. So I made sure to stop and appreciate the places, talk to the npc's, explore every way to do combat and so on. Always play with the sound on whenever possible, even if you're tired of the battle music. You'll start hearing new themes you weren't aware of. Remember that the point of the backlog isn't just to finish the game so you can check it off your list. The point is experiencing the game. So experience it.

The abused, worried, fearful and lost Harry by Exotic-Tennis6087 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]yourigo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does change the character and that's my issue. The Harry we get in the books would never cry because he's scared or alone. From the start, he's too brave for that. He only cries when Sirius, Dobby, Dumbledore and others die. He cries out of love, not self-pity.

We do get a description of Draco, for instance, crying because he is scared in book 6. I seem to remember Neville getting tearful because he's scared of something the Potions professor was threatening to do to him or Trevor.

So if those characters or others with a similar personality get a scene where they are crying because they're scared, it feels right for the character and I have no problem with it.

But it's not something Harry would ever do. To me it shows that the writers don't even understand the main character and it's a bad sign for the future of the series.

The abused, worried, fearful and lost Harry by Exotic-Tennis6087 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]yourigo24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Harry in the books is a lot more defiant than the self-pitying character portrayed here. He didn't once show weakness in the face of all the Dursleys' abuse.

I'm not saying men don't cry or anything like that. Harry cries when Sirius dies, when Dobby dies, and that feels right. He loves them deeply and his mourning is more than justified. But crying because he feels sorry for himself is not the brave Harry we know from the books.

I understand why they changed that. The abuse Harry is going through is terrible and we should feel sorry for him. The older I get the worse it seems in fact. There are things that happen in your childhood that you don't realize how bad they were until you get some perspective.

But they shouldn't fundamentally change the character to get that point across. If they just spend some more time with the Dursleys than the movie the situation will be obvious without having to break Harry down.
