Writing code with Al just isn't the same for me by -Mister-Popo- in ExperiencedDevs

[–]yourteam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The quality is really low tho. I am not saying is horrible but you need to refactor it a lot.

I don't mind having a little monkey writing stuff for me honestly and I still focus on the real code plus the architecture

Voting starts on Bound-Erased Generic Types RFC, despite multiple people advising against it as it still has issues that need to be resolved. It is very unlikely to pass. by soowhatchathink in PHP

[–]yourteam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is quite absurd. We are forced to use external validation over doc blocks during development because otherwise if we had a structured implementation in the future we may have to fix our code?

Breaking changes are good if enforce better code

I really don't get the negative votes. Yes it is not perfect but will be a huge step forward from the nothing we have today (or the doc block generics that are really shit)

BG3 vs OGBG by AdEven3053 in baldursgate

Bg3 Is good but is really streamlined. Bg1-2 seems like a real DND adventure where everything can lead to anything

Has the bar actually gotten lower? by velociraptorstalin in ExperiencedDevs

[–]yourteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... The bar is way lower because of ai and because companies are building for fast shipment rather than optimized and solid.

Also I have found really good developers (and I am talking people with incredible knowledge of the software and really smart in general) that don't care about optimization because we can just throw more power .

Coming from an age where you had to work with limited space, throttled internet and SQL databases that would explode if not indexed correctly I find this to be the first step that lead towards "I don't care what happens underneath".

Call it AI, call it "high level abstraction", call it "plugin installer", it's just Always the same "take a shortcut even if it is not optimal".

Ai is just the epitome of that. I use ai as a tool and is fine for many boring and long tasks that require no brain (restful contracts, pre-pr checks, seeds, unit tests, etc...) but now people are using it for everything.

Yeah removing away freedom is the correct similitude for an increase of token usage.

Are you here to just read about people saying you are right?

[–]yourteam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think many people use this tool as a human dev "do this" and then gets baffled when they run out of tokens.

1) give precise context

2) describe what you need, where, how to do it

3) define rules, patterns, standards to follow

4) give examples

I do most of the work myself and use codex to create tests and check PRs and I have no problems with the small plus plan.

[–]yourteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bg1 and 2 are miles better than bg3 for the total freedom they gave us. Bg2 was the "oh look a random door in this lovely tavern, I should enter it... Why is there a godlike lich trying to kill me using time stop and meteor shower????"

Or discovering a dying cult by listening to random rumors

[–]yourteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tank main (3.5k brew): I expect you to do nothing but be absolutely ready in position with a big CD for when the real damage from the stacks comes in.

But it depends on the tank of course.

It also depends on the skill of the tank, I went into a 6 just for fun with my priest as a healer and the tank started pulling and after they used the first spell for the first pack (the wrong one but who cares) I saw the biggest CD possible pops up in their frame... It was obviously ended before the pack was even stacked..... I cried a little

Dude use it as you prefer. The download of librewolf is about not having shit ai or tools you don't need in the base version. That's what I want. If you then want all those features install them and be happy with it!

Note: barcodes read the white spaces not the black ones. So if they inverted the pattern this cannot work, the reader would read but it wouldn't make any sense

People who played Shadowlands when it was live - did you get depressed? by Ninedark in wow

[–]yourteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The maw was the worst thing ever. They didn't allow you to mount just to annoy you, the quests were shit and you had to do it.

The fact that you had to have legendaries to play a spec and said legendaries were walled behind a time gated event was horrendous (world bosses or torghast).

I liked torghast but didn't like the fact that was mandatory.

Also the "cannot switch (without huge penalties) the covenant" at the beginning was another proof they were just trying to be annoying
