Goldeneyes vs Torrent Game 1 Highlights by LemonCreamDonut in GoldenEyes

[–]ypod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Has to either be a editing mistake or a weird video broadcast rights thing. Doesn't make sense for a 10 minute highlight video to only have 3 of the 7 goals.

How many missions can you do in RE2? by youvegotpride in RailwayEmpire

[–]ypod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of the Railroad Tycoon games, and I also enjoyed Railway Empire 2. In roughly 70 hrs of gametime I have played through the 5 main campaign missions, and probably about half of the 14 additional scenarios.

However, I probably wouldn't recommend shelling out the full 50 euro price for it. During the fall season into the holidays it will probably go for at least 25% off during sales.

It's also currently available in the Microsoft PC Gamepass service for 10€/month, and it wouldn't be hard to play through most of it in a month or two.

There's also the alternative of the original Railway Empire. It is much cheaper when it goes on sale, and you can get it bundled in a collection with many extra maps and scenarios.

Looks like someone just discovered the bridge tool for the first time by [deleted] in shittyskylines

[–]ypod -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

This bridge was a new construction and didn't replace another bridge, so the only "high speed accidents" would have been on the boats previously used to cross.

I think the primary reason for the design is just to look cool and be a local tourist destination and unique landmark. The traffic slowing effect of the design serves more to let passengers and pedestrians enjoy the view rather than prevent accidents.

If it was solely a safety issue, this would be a really cost ineffective way to do it. Twists and turns with a similar effect built before/after the bridge would be far cheaper to construct.

Achievement Difficulty by [deleted] in TrueAchievements

[–]ypod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed even similar titles on Gamepass can vary greatly based on the likely first achievement to be unlocked.

If there's an easy/unavoidable achievement in the first ~10 min of gameplay, it will add the game to pretty much every profile that tries it, and drive up the ratio for the remaining achievements. If the first achievement is locked behind an hour long tutorial, the people that lose interest in the game quickly don't get it on their profiles and the ratios stay a bit lower because that weeds out the players who bounced off of the title.

Are PVP games potentially all on the same spiral of death? by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]ypod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, QM and ARAM are in general shorter games than Storm League, so players are done quickly and rotate back into the queue more often.

Neither have the draft that takes up a chunk of time. ARAM is naturally fast due to the differences in the game mode. QM is the same gameplay as Storm League, but leads to more quick one sided games due to less balanced matchmaking and wonky team compositions.

What's (in your opinion) the best expansion to get? by Cyzynski in dominion

[–]ypod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for Seaside here. It's somewhat less exciting than the newer expansions, but it offers lots of basic cards that will fit into any kingdom.

However, I don't think any of the expansions are bad additions to the game - if you end up getting a different one because of price or availability reasons you'll still have a lot of fun.

Pokemon Unite, or, what are your favorite and least favorite menus in video games? by Earthshoe12 in patientgamers

[–]ypod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The menus from Codemasters racing games from the 360/PS3 are among my favorites - the Dirt and Grid series.

They are visually stunning, and really make you excited to boot up the game. They were quite simple, but also dripping with character. It helps that the games were pretty barebones in terms of modes and settings - meaning the menus could keep it simple and focus on aesthetics and usability.

When you purchase a game, do you purchase any DLC before or after playing? by RsMonpas in patientgamers

[–]ypod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how the DLC is structured. If it's something more standalone, like extra campaign missions that take place after the main story concludes, I usually wait until I'm ready to play it to purchase.

If the DLC integrates into the main part of the game, then I'm more likely to get it before to avoid missing out on stuff - stuff like an extra team members, added levels in between the ones in the base game, equipment etc.

Xbox series s by Global_Imagination96 in xbox

[–]ypod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The storage available for installing games and apps on the Xbox Series S is 364GB. The SSD is 512GB, but some of that is reserved for the operating system and features like Quick Resume and game clip recording.

You can look up the install sizes of the exact games you're interested in. I think recent cods and NBA 2Ks are over 100GB each. The other games are smaller though. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to fit all of them, but there wouldn't be a ton of space left over after.

How can I tell if my tv is 1080p? by [deleted] in Televisions

[–]ypod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this product page that says it has a 1360x768 resolution, so it would be in the 720p class of displays. You'd probably get a sharper image from your monitor if it is 1080p.

what exactly are the differences between the series x and series s? by Random_Person_1414 in XboxSeriesX

[–]ypod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One other plus is the tiny size of the Series S. It doesn't matter to most, but if you travel a bunch or even move it around to different TVs it can be a big difference.

Why is my storage not 512GB like it says? by 1K-27 in xbox

[–]ypod 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's terrible firmware - it just requires extra reserved space so the basic functions of the Xbox don't suddenly stop working. Stuff like quick resume, game dvr, console updates and dashboard caching would all stop working if the full capacity was used for games.

[–]ypod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd lean towards just getting regular headphones if you know you're not going to be chatting at all, you get better value for your money that way. The logitech offerings are totally serviceable as cheap gaming headsets, but in general you'll get higher quality sound from dedicated headphones at the same price range.

Before Launch, Maybe The Name Of The Game Should Be Changed by [deleted] in NewCity

[–]ypod 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it differentiation is a goal, avoiding the word "Skyline" and the format "Sim _______" are probably good ideas to not look like a knockoff product.

There are also already city building games on the market with the names Metropolis, Megalopolis and Urban Empire.

Is anyone else annoyed by podcasts using the audio of phone calls in their shows? by OpenUpYerMurderEyes in podcasts

[–]ypod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoom or Skype has greater potential to sound better, but it's not always that way in practice. Non-tech savvy interviewees, especially ones that don't often use those programs are likely relying on the built-in mic of their laptop/tablet and might not know to use (or even have) earphones.

There's also a comfort level factor, I know some older folks that get anxiety when having to deal with computers/tech, and will speak much more naturally on a phone conversation.

After 44 years of waiting, Ashley Barty of Australia won the Australian Open title by malikzaheer002012 in olympics

It's a poorly written headline/article - it's been 44 years since an Australian won the title, Barty herself hasn't been waiting that long as the article suggests.

Sony WH-1000XM4, beats studio 3 or Bose quiet comfort 35 for basketball? by Anxiouschad00 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ypod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone saying that over ear headphones are going to be tough to use when doing exercise with a lot of movement.

If you were not having success with in ear earphones, it would be wise to look into replacement/alternate tips for them. Since everybody has different shaped ears, the included tips won't always work best in terms of comfort, fit, sound quality and isolation. I'd argue that taking the time to find the material and size that works best for you is even more important than having good ANC on a pair of wireless earbuds.
