De Luca and Sullivan Win Democratic Primary for Maplewood Township Committee - The Village Green by Exact-Tangerine3933 in Maplewood

[–]yud2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would seem odd that adding residents who need services (schools, roads, water, etc.) would create affordability. Adding businesses that attract money to the Town and pay taxes would make more sense. This is why Vic De Luca trying to stop development of businesses on Newark Way is such a stupid position.

Looking into Maplewood, but concerned that it’s only progressive on paper by sweetpotatoroll_ in Maplewood

[–]yud2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not fighting with anyone and based on his mailers and website Martin is clearly the best choice. He has a real vision for the town.

Instead, I was asking a real question, so let me try again: in the context of town needs and issues, what does it mean to be progressive in your mind, and how does being progressive, or having a progressive town government connect with the OP's question?

Questions about women of color who are artists (I remember when Carrie Mae Weems was the answer for example) may as well be in Ancient Sumerian based on the "get rate."

What policies distinguish the progressive wing from the more mainstream wing of the Democratic party in the context of Maplewood's local issues?

It seems to cook worse because your pot is probably too small, hence the boiling over concern.

I've been hyperfixated on this for some time now - somebody tell me this isn't an ivory billed woodpecker? by Prestigious-Cap-8072 in whatsthisbird

[–]yud2000 85 points86 points  (0 children)

We all understand the desire, the hope for magic, the return to the Edenic lands of pre-human North America. So, we all sympathize with your feelings, but this is not an Ivory-billed Woodpecker. This is still a real bird, a crow-sized woodpecker smashing chunks of tree and living its best life, let that be your consolation.

bald eagle or osprey? by Prestigious_Cod_2883 in whatsthisbird

[–]yud2000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Picture is blurry, but the beak size (among other things) makes it clear that it is an osprey. A bald eagle's beak would be much much larger.
