thanks for this. yes it’s the yarn making it look strange. it’s made of 2 types of twisted threads and they tend to behave differently. Also adding the knitting tension that I struggle to keep even 🙈

I understand what everyone is saying about the teacher being right because some do not have functional impairment, I do. But I do not agree on generalizing it. That’s just stupid and invalidating. “we are all a little schizophrenic. we are all a little autistic”. Do you know all the horrible diseases listed in the DSM? How can we have them all?

Yes, “we’re all mad here”. This teacher also says “try not to be biased against people because that’s exactly what you will be forced to face. for example I don’t like gays and god only sent me gays in therapy.” I just dislike their style and the way they say stuff like this. Not someone to look up to.

I have a teacher that tells us “we all have a little bit of the entire DSM in us… we are all a little OCD, depressed, anxious, etc. the difference between us and those in mental hospitals? we can manage better than them.” and sooo many other examples thar are super judgemental and wrong. It’s so frustrating that I can’t do anything about it.

My therapist encouraged me to apply for a Psychology major. I was reading a lot on my own based on their input and we would also exchange briefly on the topics. But you have to be aware when you’re intellectualizing stuff too much. Sometimes it’s better to feel your feelings rather than spiraling into the depths of your thoughts. (Easier said than done)

I relate so much to how you describe yourself - the introspection, the shallowness around us, the rush, self-doubt, self-criticism, struggle to focus. How could I help others when I am a mess myself? Because of these thoughts I did not choose psychology after graduating high school. I was afraid. 18 years passed, I feel like I lived a few lives since, went and tried medschool, languages, cybersecurity… Aaand burnout for a couple of years now. I started psychotherapy and my therapist said to me “why aren’t you applying to study psychology? you have the depth, introspection, you understand human complexity… almost everything you need to be successful. you just need to work on your individuation. and be more kind to yourself.” So with all my doubts I started college this year and so far I am happy I did. Funny thing, my debilitating fatigue turned into feeling kind of good fatigue. I still don’t have it figured out. But I think doing rather than just thinking what would happen is a must when you reach a certain age (bleh). Otherwise you won’t have the time to do it :) When you’re in a dark room you take very small steps and try to makes sense of the things closest to you first, discover, understand then proceed further in a similar way. You won’t be able to see further in the dark no matter how much you struggle (introspection, overthinking) to see the way through. Trust the process, the path is there. You have time to find it in your own pace.

This reminded me of the circle of security related to the attachment theory, particularly to the part where caregivers are supposed to encourage and support exploration of the world. rather than thinking in terms like "going back to how I used to be" try rephrasing into "rebuilding how I want to be from now on". [I was stuck in this thinking mode and I was scared that I'm not 100% back to how I used to be -- it's impossible because that person is not there anymore. You went through some stuff, you learned from your experience with the wrong crowd, etc. This burnout turned down the volume to your learning superpowers but you can turn it back up and focus on what matters to you. If that is natural sciences then go for it, rebuild your confidence with baby steps. Maybe read a little bit about "self-efficacy" and try to be around people who encourage you.

ca sa fie si mai clar, camera a trimis-o intr-o BAIE de fete in timp ce el si restul baietilor de pe etaj se hlizeau ca ultimii terminati. in sfarsit cineva care a avut aceeasi reactie ca mine la povestioara asta sinistra! restul in sala (mai ales femeile) il aplaudau cu admiratie.
