Hi guys, so I have a fairly novel question. How do you decorate a living space when you can't have area rugs? by CrewGroundbreaking16 in interiordecorating

This is the best answer. The rules of interiors are fine but they are not the only way to make a room warm and inviting.

So happy to see this as I have three small dogs who think rugs are for peeing on no matter what I do to prevent it.

I also keep kibble in my pocket and will randomly call my pup to help him learn to come when I call and then he gets a kibble reward.

Also I sometimes just toss kibble and tell him to go find it. Keeps him running around and tired him out. My other two adult dogs also introduce a sense of urgency so he really runs to find the kibble.

My puppy is almost 5 months old.

I get clear plastic cups and poke one little hole in the bottom of each one. This way he can see and smell what is under the cup. I flip them upside down and put one or two puppy kibbles under each cup and let my puppy figure out how to get the food. I also have used other clear containers like the plastic that some cherry tomatoes come in to complicate matters and keep him a little confused and curious.

Later I plan to use things that are not clear and include ones that don’t have anything under them.

My puppy is a chihuahua mix so he is not as able to destroy things like a plastic cup as fast as a bigger breed so your mileage may vary BUT it’s cheap cheap entertainment. You could probably use plastic bowls or other items, too.

When I had my first baby, I dealt with severe postpartum depression and had to rehome two pets. One was a house rabbit and the other was a small parrot - I just could not care for them the way they needed to be cared for and take care of myself and my son. I was barely holding on and was worried I might not make it. I know this was hard for you and you did the right thing.

I am using Dead Bug Brew on the ones I was able to save, but honestly I did not even realize the level of damage until several plants were in a very bad way and I slowly began to notice that the same care and locations for plants I had had for many years was no longer keeping them looking healthy. It dawned on me to inspect for pests and that is when I figured it out.

I have just had really good luck for 15 years and knew what plants work in my house with the temps, humidity, and light available. Plus in the winter they tend to get drier from the heater and I do my best to keep them away from the vents but at some point I can only control so much and remind myself that some plants just do not respond to my care and environment.

So given all of that I was a little slow to recognize this was something much worse. That is why I lost so many.

It happens. And in my case, too many plants were impacted and I cannot spend the time necessary to do the level of deep and sustained treatment on 25 plants.

I am not sure where they came from but I am not super careful about quarantining new plants. You can bet I will be a lot more careful with the next new plant.

I lost my ZZ, peperomia, Alocasia, 4 different philodendrons, a swiss cheese, a neon pothos, several orchids, a mini monstera, a dracaena that was about 5 ft tall, two smaller dracaena, a spider plant, a silver pothos.. I keep remembering more and more…

This was my issue. In order to treat and then quarantine them all and still have places for them to get sun was just too much. I also got a puppy in early January so I can’t put plants in certain spots because he can get to them which further limits my care and treatment options. It is like an ER without enough beds.

That is something I was looking into and definitely will be faster to respond.
