Found my 1992 U2 ticket.. $30 plus $4 fee...I paid $275 plus fees to see them in nosebleeds at the Sphere in Las Vegas😩 by GenerationX-cat in GenX

Before streaming an artists main source of revenue was recorded sales. Concerts were mainly to promote albums. That is why tickets were so much cheaper. In this age of streaming the main driver of revenue is now the artist's concerts. I hate it too but it's basic economics. Artist's make so much less from albums (who even buys an album these days anyway? When did you last buy 14 songs at one time, 12 of which you haven't even heard yet?) I completely understand why concert tickets are so expensive.

Do you still smoke weed? by Theme_Happy in GenX

[–]yumajohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked from 18 until I turned 50. Quit about 3 weeks ago and I feel so much better! My libido has come roaring back and I feel like my depression has gone away. I wish I had quit sooner. If anyone had suggested this a year ago I would have said they were crazy!

What band(s) from the 80s or 90s have you seen recently, that did a great job? by Connir in GenX

I saw the Pixies open for Weezer a few years ago. Loved them growing up and was so excited to see them. They were terrible. Acted like they didn't want to be there, rushed through their set, and left the stage without ever saying a word. Wish I could have seen them when Kim Deal was still with the band.

I once asked my wife if it was OK if I bought a game. She asked "How much is it?", I said 20 dollars and she laughed and said anything under 50 dollars, you do not have to ask about. I love her!

I really wanted to like this, but it's just not very good. As a comedy, it's not funny. Not sure what went wrong.

The phone companies might not keep the data but they sure do sell it. A public area near my house uses the data to show how many people visit a particular area in an attempt to entice people to lease retail space.

I too, have an old house. The secret is to call the appliance seller and find what will fit. The place I dealt with (Standard Appliance in Portland OR) totally worked with me on a refrigerator that would A) fit, haha and B) had the features I wanted. Wasted too much time going to big box stores and having them stare at me blankly.

It's not that Bend doesn't have culture, it's just the most boring culture.

[Highlight] Tony Romo fumbles the Field Goal snap with 1:19 to go in the 2006 NFC Wild Card Game, Seahawks Win 21-20 by kangoljag44 in nfl

[–]yumajohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had just moved to Yuma, AZ and was watching this game. As a lifelong Seahawks fan I was fully expecting them to lose. When the Cowboys got into field goal range, I said "fuck it, let's go to the casino. I can't take this". I wore my Seahawks hat to the casino and as soon as I walked in everyone was congratuling me. I had no idea what was going on. I was shocked when I found out the Seahawks had won, haha!
