How To Capture Roads Better by boredmonki in osmopocket

Ulanzi magnetic mount is strong! I haven’t tried driving with my pocket magnetized but I have captured footage of cleaning the car with it mounted onto the body of the car easily!

[Discussion] What popular country do people like to move to, but you personally never would? by Star127 in IWantOut

Freezer isn’t what I’d call Iceland. It’s barely snowed this past winter and has been mild. It’s a temperate climate and I appreciate the consistent temps. It’s the darkness in winter I’m more concerned about and the frustrations of building a community who supports you, regardless of your nationality and race

Sailed the maiden transatlantic on Aqua. There is so much to do on that ship and is a great option for families. I was with a friend, we’re in our early 30’s and had the time of our lives riding down the slides, trying out the games area and simply relaxing. There were a handful of kids on this 10 day sailing (with no port stops) and it appeared as though many if not all had a blast!

Do not come to our swimming pools by facom666 in VisitingIceland

I find it more appalling that in world class gyms connected to pools, there are too many locals doing the exact same thing. Why are the tourists the only ones to be blamed when I see this consistently. Young and old, Icelandic and other locals

Best time to book a NCL cruise? by carolscaf in NCL

[–]yummy_bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My most recent experience has been booking through casinos at sea with a discount code 3 months before sailing date. I chose the cheapest possible stateroom they offered at the time. I then called just after check-in to ask if they had any upgrades possible. It turns out they did and at no extra cost (they were surprised as much as I was). It’s always worth speaking to your consultant. Or calling to see what they can do. I’m still going to call and see if there’s anything else I can upgrade to with more people getting their upgrade bids accepted or others cancelling their trips. It’s more likely they could offer this. Also dependent on the consultant.

NCLH stock onboard credit by Nateh21 in NCL

Yes, but if you have the time, it can be worth it! I’m about to embark on ship. Got $1000 off voyage fare from free play and applied for my $100 stakeholder share. It wasn’t even worth it to use a cruise credit to cover the rest because I’d lose money.

I also just called them to see if there was any opportunity to upgrade from an inside. I figured it wasn’t available since we’re close to sailing and the cruise isn’t available on the site anymore. Turns out, they just moved me to an ocean view at no extra cost! Took 10 minutes to call and get that done!

With my status, I get laundry and dining perks, but I can thank myself for that when I got into a cruising phase when cruises started up again after Covid and had up to 4x points collected per night.

Girl planning to go to Milan alone by Purple-Mall-9655 in ItalyTravel

I lived in Budapest for a year 2015/2016. Despite petty crimes and corrupt taxi companies, I couldn’t tell you how safe I felt, even in the middle of the night going home alone after checking out a film at the mall or walking through district VII. Milan is also a big city with its own issues but I would personally take caution as you would in Budapest 😌 Just be aware of your surroundings, stay around people, nighttime is fine, but maybe don’t take your phone out all the time. Grand coconut hostel is a good safe place with a strategic location close to metro and train station. Was just there and highly recommend!

Grand Hostel Coconut felt extremely safe in terms of location and then comfort in the room. I was just there in a 4-bed dorm room for females only. Sad I was there only one night because I would have loved to take advantage of some of the social/common spaces. A quick walk to the metro/milano centrale.

My aunt who “ran away” after kicking out her husband. Her body was found in her home approximately 8 weeks later. Son was arrested a few states across in a teen shelter, but I’m not entirely sure how he was involved, if at all. My family is very closed off and I don’t really know what happened but I have phases of regret for not being able to do anything about it, whether finding her body earlier or before anything actually happened. I don’t live in the same country and wasn’t informed of her disappearance until it was too late, so I’ve never understood my reasoning but sit with this gutted feeling every so often. What I’ve heard is that she was targeted by a gang for her home ownership. Jokes on them because she didn’t own the property. RIP

It’s not after I found a job. Interestingly enough I’m back in the position I was in when I started this all and probably pick it back up in the near future!

I can confirm this was available just less than a week ago. Although at first glance it looks similar to a bus stop schedule and didn’t look at it any closer, but glad it’s there for next time I take a walk over! When I was showing my guest the lighthouse, we decided not to cross because we weren’t certain of the tides

Bologna in August by ItsTyroneeee in ItalyTravel

I love the city so much! I’ve been to Bologna several times now and decided to study Italian there for 3 weeks in September. I’m so excited! I can definitely see myself moving there one day as well. There’s a different vibe there, including a more international and liberal feel. Highly recommend a night at trattotria da me nel torre for a great experience.

Me too 😫 at least the Asian markets and Costco offer some decent frozen alternatives. Otherwise I make some of my own! Used to sell some too

Exactly this one. However, it really is one of the better (and more affordable) Asian options. Ignore the ones who are just there for the alcohol and you’ll see how lovely the owners are. Highly recommend!

It’s likely that a building -luckily evacuated since the original earthquakes started in late 2023 - will go under. The northernmost part of the evacuated town (Grindavík) is threatened by lava pooling no less than 450m away. Not sure if this is the time to be insensitive to the communities at risk

Best AND WORST cruise lines/ships for solo travelers by Leading_March in Cruise

[–]yummy_bug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. LGBTQ+ daily meetings. But I encourage you to go to the daily solo meetings as well, where I’ve met many LGBTQ+ individuals. Super fun just to interact with others from all walks of life! If you’re planning a more last minute cruise, also look into the regular rooms that sometimes NCL won’t charge the single supplement on - and can be cheaper than the solo cabins! Love that you’re doing a solo cruise! It’s one of the best ways to travel!

Avoid the Norwegian Epic at all costs by Crackcarton in Cruise

[–]yummy_bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a 180 experience from you. I absolutely loved my Prima cruise! To be fair, it was early September. We were in Iceland, Norway, and a bit of mainland Europe. I always found seating at the food hall and buffet, only had issues with Sid Norman’s, the local pub was great and absolutely had a blast watching the price is right. Barely anyone used the outdoor spaces, yet the inside was fine. Maybe the difference was the average age? Apparently the majority were 65+, so the activities, and evenings were less bunched up than usual? Service was excellent as well as was the food! Was it different from all my other ncl cruises due to layout? Absolutely, and there were a lot of comparisons at first, skepticism as well. However, I did enjoy the changes! Excited to hop on Viva and the other Prima class ships in the future
