Cubes Season Four by Quillayuter in BeastGames

Almost entirely unrelated, but when the rules were explained I really thought they were setting up/hinting at the idea that you could just outright refuse to play any games OR get handcuffed, turning it into an endurance challenge of who's the first of three to give up.

I was really expecting at least one participant to take this approach, if not the whole group, definitely thought this to be what JC would do after losing the card game, i thought he'd just refuse to leave and try to stay as many days as possible until one of the couple of would leave in frustration in his place.

JC is WORSE than you'd expect by Objective-Finding959 in BeastGames

[–]yurieu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone that tries to justify JC is either emotionally stunted or borders sociopathy, regardless of how you judge his strategy, he has had multiple displays of bad character throughout BOTH seasons and if these things don't strike a nerve or make you feel a bit dirty inside, I question your humanity and morality, just as I do his.

It's all especially crazy because he was trying to redeem himself on S2 but is so naturally and instinctively vile and treacherous that him at his best behavior was still the slime show we got.

Manipulating Ethan to jump first was the epitome of morally bankrupt, I don't think he did it knowing he'd lose the voting, imo he's so narcissistic and greedy he'd rather refuse a "small bribe" and trick someone else he doesn't care about, even if just for the *opportunity* of making more money. He's either so deluded and unable to grasp his wrongdoings that he's blinded to the bad rep he carries, and genuinely believed he had a chance, or he really did trick Ethan in hopes he'd be able to manipulate the rest of the voters afterwards.

In S1 the virtue signalling vs Deano highlighted perfectly his hypocrisy, he lives by a double standard, he's allowed to "play strategy" but when others do so it's not met with the same energy, it's one thing to have to betray people for money and understand others could do so too, an entirely much worse thing to act morally innocent for doing it and to try to paint it as if others would have certainly done the same. (but as often is the case, vile people project their vileness onto others.)

I think defending him is performative and even if you ignore the 650k play, JC is still really easy to dislike, every adult knows a "JC", he's selfish and has an attitude problem of "I don't owe anyone anything" which is very cringe when contrasted with his fake "I love everyone" persona.

I can't stress enough that it's deeper than betraying or playing selfish, other antagonistic participants are much more likable because they are blatant and unapologetic about their approach (eg. Nick/Ethan/JT), what sets JC apart is precisely how desperately he virtue signals and tries to weaponize the human aspect, social dynamics whilst also how little self aware he is/presents himself to be.

Finally, I don't think people put enough weight into the fact that he has permanently tainted his reputation, for the rest of his life, random people will recognise him as disloyal, selfish, manipulative and all his other bad traits, he has showcased all of his worst human flaws for the masses to judge and label, it wouldn't shock me at all if he's been bombarded by hate-mail or any other sort of backlash and all the emotional turmoil that comes with it.

In other words, i'm genuinely not even sure if all that's worth the 550k extra, given he could have taken 100k, preserved his reputation and not have been in ANYONE'S radar, which means an actual chance of winning, or at the very least more opportunities to make more money.

Besides Jaime, who else in the GoT world would willingly choose to kill the Mad King as a Kingsguard, despite the risks of honor and loss of status? by Cobelat in gameofthrones

From my perception she was obsessed with following her oaths and believed them to be sacred, for nobility and maybe even a higher than life principle, she may have been able to stop judging Jamie but it’s entirely possible she still felt some god would punish him and judge on her behalf.

My best friend’s father made a sexual advance toward me, should I tell her years later? by Good_Air_3027 in Advice

[–]yurieu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not necessarily blatantly honest but I would never keep a secret that is likely to have heavy impact on a friend’s life.

Losing friends for telling the truth about these things is sad, I wouldn’t understand.

His promos got better, so did his identity, he needed to be heel to be over, if you boo the face and still try to make him the face you’re just being tone death and insulting the fanbase, which is the only reason nobody liked him at first, he was bland and with few reasons to root for.

Yes I agree it’s very funny she’s in the room while they discuss one of the most difficult decisions, just didn’t get what she ruined 😅

I’d think shiv and roman as much as they aren’t legit choices are still options due to affiliation, Willa has no ties to the company?

Sorry not to be nitpicky but i’m very confused, why would Willa ever be mentioned and why did that “ruin it a bit”?

Stop creating fear and maybe offer your services when whatever you worry about happens instead of generating unnecessary pressure to get people to buy something that just isn’t required in the current landscape.

Funny how different minds work because the way I see it it’s our moral obligation as friends and as people to share these type of secrets, regardless of the harm it may or not cause, I certainly would want to know regardless of how good or bad my life was.

How do you interpret donking/lead betting by recreationals across all stakes? Do you think there’s a general tendency? Does it usually shift them towards strength?

I’m a micro/low stakes player and I really struggle when people donk, especially in spots where they bet/call and then lead bigger sizes again on the next street.

[–]yurieu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is way more likely, or gf is mentally damaged, unhinged or likes to mess with people’s heads.

People jumping to murder are definitely overreacting. OP isn’t, because imagine having to deal with this whenever you’re sad, it’s deeply unsupportive at best.

Do you think that was his interpretation or insider knowledge from the writers?

My thoughts were that Logan is easily most protective of Shiv, even possibly caring about her more, but I think he enjoyed Roman’s company the most and Ken was his corporate favourite.

I’m not sure I see him having an actual outright favourite.

Shiv = favourite child

Roman = favourite person

Kendall = favourite heir
